    graphic card question

i recently bought a HP 15-g005ax notebook, which suppose to have a dedicated graphic card besides the shared one from AMD's APU

but when check in the game configuration, the dedicated card was not detected
anyone know how to fix it?
btw, I've already installed catalyst control center, and assign the game exe for high performance. but every time I played, the one that got detected was the shared one

    thanks

the apu and your gpu NVIDIA GeForce 840M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) cant work together. you need to be using geforce experience for that more powerful card to be working correctly

the thing is, its not 840M

ive visited NVIDIA website for direct scans, manually download the drivers, both give the same "no hardware found" results
device management said it was a radeon 8500hd insteadt, also confirmed on 3rd party apps like gpu-z or cpuid

either way hp is using custum catalyst drivers for the apu you can download them under the software and driver support page for your laptop. that might be your issue they were updates on 3/20/2015

Love how the product page say it's OS is freedos. HD8500m is the A8 APU. I would check display adpaters in device manager. if that does have a 840m onboard it would show up with a yellow ? icon because it doesn't have a driver

Have you tried checking your BIOS? Your graphic adapter is probably set to IGD(Integrated) when it should be set to PED/PGD(I forget which.)

I have an A10 APU that I use with a HD 6970 Radeon. They are as compatible as your Nvidia/A8 APU, which is to say, not at all. They work fine together however. Check your BIOS, I'm more than certain that's all it is.
