Well in my case it isn't the best weapon in the game yet. Even at animus it is only IL100. You can loot better weapons. it's not unreasonable to expect something for your time. The compensation should depend on how far you have upgraded your zodiac or something. It just feels like I have wasted time upgrading my weapon, if it is getting replaced in the expansion.

Your compensation is having access to an evolving weapon that can become stronger, as well as a weapon skin for glamor.

Thoug I'll admit if we got our zeta, I'd like to skip the first 1-2 steps of the next grind. Something to make it feel less like a dead end to the relic.

What makes the Relic line the best weapons in the game isn't their iL, it's their stats. After Novus there's no other weapon like it, it's perfectly tailored to how you want making it the absolute best you can ever have because YOU made it that way. It's not wasted time, either, because it was time spent making the best weapon in the game. So you stopped before the part where it would have shined, that's no fault of Square. That's on you, and just you. The quests are there, waiting for you to continue improving your weapon. Mythic isn't going to change that, the quests are STILL going to be there. Mythic is going to be for those that want something else, be it burned out on Relic grind or can't afford it.

All your time spent on your zeta will be wasted come 3.0. Properly melded they are the best weapons until 3.0 and maybe 3.1. SE is going to throw zeta holders a bone when it comes to starting the new quest but I wouldn't expect much. They are planning on a lot of new players and they won't make them crawl through the zeta steps to enjoy new content.

IIRC a long while back they'd said that whoever had finished zeta would get some sort of perk or bonus when it comes to 3.0's relic. Though they've been completely hush hush about that ever since.

My guess is they will use the tome lockout to zeta holders advantage. The original zenith weapons took 3 weeks worth of tomes. If they let zeta holders skip a similar step it would be a nice nod for all our work.

I wouldn't expect to get anything super awesome for relic in 3.0. Yoshi already said in an interview the 3.0 relics weren't going to be hard to get. So all players will get the initial relic pretty easy regardless of zeta.

Also if your on animus, it might be best to just get the archmagus rewards and build the poetic wpn with the encrypted tomestone and 10 rowena tokens of poetics. Its lvl 120 and upgradable to 130 with a carbontwine.

Itll still take you around 2-3 weeks but its a lot less hours total as apposed to trying to get 75 alexandrite, a whole bunch of light, gil, dungeon atma, ect.

Starting relic now would be kinda pointless as by the time you finish it wont be good for long.

I just got my Shield to Novus and the Sword is still at Animus. I am considering just getting the Ironworks Sword to hold me over. It's still a top tier weapon. Not BiS, but still a fairly decent blade.

I certainly hope the relic quest is continued to 3.0, or they better make a late-game SCH book stacked with ACC

Yoshi-P have said they were working on some way to compensate the people who got Zeta, but really... is it really something special to have a Zeta?

You can decide to get a Zeta from scratch, and have it within 3 weeks if you farm a lot. I know not everyone have that time, but still, you could have started to follow the upgrades to relic so long ago, that it really isn't something special to have Zeta now.

You see Zeta wielders everywhere you look, and many even have multiples. I have 2, and I could have many more if I wanted.

If the people who had Zeta got privileges other the ones who don't, you wouldn't see much difference, because everyone have it anyways.

If you're going entirely off of post-nerf rates, sure. If you're going off of the rates of things as they came out, that three weeks would get you a Zenith, not a Zeta.

People with a zeta might just skip a short phase somewhere in the new questline. Like, normal players will have to run some favors in order to meet someone with expertise making weapons , but people who finished Zeta will simply talk to 2.0 relic NPCs and jump ahead a few steps. Gerolt says "go talk to my brother", and we don't have to fetch an extra 50 bear pelts.
