Hydaelyn: "Yea... So if you could just act as a distraction so the WoL can escape and allow them to flourish on their own that would be great..."

what I think she was told and this is ofcourse speculation.
"you must not go with him/her, he/she is being tested by Midgardsormr. you must let him/her do this on his/her own. go back and try to help the others."

I think Hydaelyn wanted to save Thancred and Yshtola, so she spoke to Minfillia.

Either that or Hydaelyn has informed Minfillia that the two are dead and Minfillia wanted to go back and confirmed it.

I doubt Minfillia would go back just to check on that. as i took it, all the scions staying behind to "hold them off" was just a euphemism for them, well dying trying to hold them off. They are all ready to die for what they believe in and i believe that's what they were intending to do, die(or die trying) for the WoL and Minfillia, so the fire of hope will live and there will still be a light shining in the darkness. At least that's what i got from all them (Yda and Y'shtola the most). of course that's not to say that they wouldn't give all they could to live. i also doubt they are dead, SE may have to balls to kill Nanamo, but all the scions? or even just two like thancred/y'shtola. lets just all hope Minfillia catches the sharp end of a sword on her way back towards the scions.

and the lalafell is going to tie Min up and whip her...

or another option is Min and gang will be saved by the ninja clan. these ninja had being hiding around spying around lately. then somewhere mid of the next expansion, the WoL will get embush and the scion will come out and save the day.

the maid might be the real mastermind or empire spy on all these. She used the lalafell to poison sultana and next is to bring down the other 2 nations.

Minfilia might not be a fighter but its worth remembering she did survive pretty well in her early years after her father died and she was hunted back then. While we have only really seen her leading the organisation she created, its not like she started that way.
