Suggestion: Remove "lying down emote restriction"

I think they just don't want people to easily ERP in public; hince, it's limited to FC/personnal houses....because it just makes sense that way

People ERP in public anyway. Go to an open world spot with water/waterfalls and a guarantee you there will be at least one set of ERPers in the area. If limiting where you can lay down is an effort to circumvent public ERP, they would be better off making the entire open world desert instead (even then, someone somewhere has a kink for severe sunburn and sand in places It shouldn't be).

i'm really diggin this game so far, but wow there are some weirdos here.... behavior i haven't really seen in other mmos. eh whatever, i say let folks do what they want, it takes .2 seconds to turn the screen and even less time to just shift your eyeballs the other way

I'd rather not. Last thing I want to see is Miqo'te females laying on the floor with miqo'te males /sitting behind them to imitate sexual intercourses (beds preventing that by forcing people to sit on the edges, and even if they didn't, I don't mind people doing that stuff inside their homes. But beds out in the open world or worse yet, everywhere? No thanks). People have already enough ways to offend my personal sensibility as it is in this game. I'll vote yes to the OP's idea only if it comes with the option to cancel other people's characters from my screen completely.

This already happens left and right. Check out the #FFXIV tag on Tumblr sometime. Couples of all sizes and orientations figuring out ways to virtually grope each other and take photos for evidence.

I don't think ERP has anything to do with it. (As mentioned, too many other opportunities.) I thought the original intent had to do with preventing people from feigning being KO'd, or to prevent healers from getting confused and trying to Raise someone who's just taking a nap in the sun.

(I still think it should be allowed, though. Lying down isn't the only indication when someone's KO.)

Sounds like a odd reason since no race afaik looks like they are dead when in said state + when your dead your name is gray instead of light blue.

EDIT: hrm sry i missread a word there, the actual reason according to a dev response was

"to avoid people taking innapropriate screenshots"

Even though you can find even worse sexual innuendos and ERP type things already without the /doze emote from beds only (as far lying down.) we already got an answer a while back when the emote was first going to be introduced.

We're glad you guys are excited for the new emote to use in Free Company Housing beds, and understand many of you want to use it elsewhere as well. However, the team has decided against the use of this emote in other places to prevent the taking of not especially appropriate screenshots. Likewise, the new emote cannot be used on Inn beds because lying down on that bed logs a player out of the game.

Personally I'm against their outlook and decision on the matter, I mean the new /sit /cpose emote... have you seen the things people do with that? Also... the bottles of Realm Reborn Red... go check on over at the "Show your Roe" thread, and be quite surprised around some of the last few pages.

Yep and i hate to be the angry old guy but that response was one of the lamest excuses ive heard, it has no merit whatsoever because theres no guarantee that people will use the emote in a bad way but there HAS been proof of people doing so with other emotes yet this particular one somehow made the ERP and Sex alarms shout for all their worth.

EDIT: dont get me wrong, if the dev would make a post right here with a justifiable reason for this one particular emote to be limited id be satisfied and id never mention it ever again.

But until that time i cannot and will not accept their course of action.
