In the trailer we see a symbol for the Machinist guild inside Ishgard. Will there be 2 guilds locations? Or will there still be another gun based job sometime down the road?

Musketeer still in the works?

Surely Musketeer still in works, the machinist weapon is nothing like the admiral's gun.
I still think Musketeer should be something like a Red Mage was in XI, but with a pistol instead of a sword for melee![]()

Good question... >.>

Considering that Machinist is a buffer-DPS (similar to XIV BRD/XI COR), and that the Musketeer guild and guildmaster (Rayner) do exist, I am pretty sure it'll be eventually implemented.
As for its role, I'm pretty certain it'll be a DPS, simply by looking at the Grand Company leaders. Each leader represents one of the three roles in the Trinity, with:
Kan-E-Senna: White Mage (Healer)
Raubhan: Gladiator (Tank)
Merlwyb: Pistol-user (DPS).
As in Limsa Lominsa only musketeers use pistols, it is safe to assume that Merlwyb is either a musketeer or the job that will sprout from Musketeer. And that it will be a DPS.
The one in Limsa Lominsa is the MUSKETEER'S Guild.
Not the Machinist's Guild. They are completely separate things. So it's fine to just stay there "as-is".
MSK might come out later in the future. But for now it's basically scrapped and on the back burner.
Perhaps it will stay a NPC only kinda-thing, where we're stuck getting teased by Merlwyb and that one Lalafell from the Rogue storyline.
Although I think there is still plenty of hope for MSK if the MCN class doesn't meet players' expectations.

I actually suspect that despite SE stating that the new Jobs 'do not require base classes', that they are in fact keeping a base class for them carefully in reserve just in case they can't get the new system of 'not requiring a base class' to work properly - after all, as MSK shows the new Jobs could easily come off a base class - MSK into MCN being the obvious example. The fact the new Jobs use new weapons too is still the big question mark with the new Jobs as well, which a new base class for it would easily solve.
Naturally though we'll find out soon enough.![]()

If you watch the Tour of the North video, at the bit where the male Au'ra walks into the Airship room with a Machinists guild placard on the table, as the camera pans to the left you can clearly see a Lominsan-style pistol on the left-most table. I'm not sure what it means but I'm hoping that it implies the MCH guildquests will make some nod to the Musketeers.
