    Dumb WAR question

I'm in the midst of leveling WAR, first time tanking really. I know that what seems to be hot right now is having a hybrid vit/str build to get enough HP to survive but more str to deal damage.

My question is, should I assign all my bonus stats to VIT like I've been doing, and try and pick up STR from gear? Or split them?

All VIT will help leveling until you get to 50, then I'd switch to all STR. By then, the gear will give you plenty of VIT.

personally i distributed most of my points about 80%vit-20%str regardless of lvl and gear... Since warrior is a tank class (the way i see it) with high hp pools i can't help watching i120 warriors with 9,5k hp as MT. Our job is to tank, there are others for damage...

this is...absurd lol You're talking about a WAR using all right side STR gear and 30 points in STR. Of course their HP is going to be low and unless they're in T13 and MTing they don't need it to be any higher. Why waste points in VIT for some extra HP that means nothing when you can spec into STR and actually be a productive member of your group instead of sitting there pulling sub-200 DPS.

You say there are other jobs for doing damage, I say why not get the most out of your job?

It all depends on your personal preference. There is no "mandatory" spec.

I went full STR (also while leveling) + STR accessories. My HP is more than enough to tank t13. I don't see how 600ish HP more would make me survive better. I chose ~600 HP less for way better snap aggro and ~150 DPS more. Granted that in the current state of the game, you will most likely succesfully meet DPS checks since gearing up goes rather quickly.

My advice would be to go VIT and switch to STR when you're comfortable with encounters. Inner beast will be your best friend and it's amazing both mitigation and dps wise. You can always swap back if you don't like it.

I'm skeptical of the statement that swapping 30 VIT to STR upped your dps by 150. I'm not saying you should go VIT, but no way do you get 5 dps per STR.

"I went full STR (also while leveling) + STR accessories"

VIT all the way is just overkill imo. Fully melded i110 accessories (+ STR attributes) will give you those numbers. Granted you have sufficient knowledge to DPS.

I leveled up my Paladin when I first started using all of the VIT gear I could get my hands on. I was a full VIT spec, too. When I leveled Warrior up recently, I went with a full STR build and STR accessories. The STR build made it much easier to kill things on my own (FATE mobs in the open world, mostly; I have soloed dungeon bosses, though), and therefore much easier to level. As long as you aren't undergeared for the content you're doing, STR is a better spec in my opinion. I've had less problems with hate since I switched over. Since I went from a full VIT/Parry spec to a full STR/Det/Crit spec, I've nearly doubled my damage. It's not my primary job to deal damage, but the way I see it that doesn't mean that my damage is insignificant; I enjoy doing as much as I can.

If you're fresh to 50 and just starting to gear up, you'll probably want to go with VIT initially to make sure that healers can keep you standing. When your gear improves, you can always swap over a piece at a time if you wish.

30 VIT while leveling is a safety net. If you need it, use it. If you don't, don't.

I went VIT leveling and then switched over to STR for 50 stuff. Such a huge difference. I have two different gearsets and I swap based on pull and content. I can have defiance off and out threat other tanks. This is actually an issue. Run CT in full strength accessories/spec and laugh at any other tank who is trying to get the boss back.

The only reason I went VIT for leveling is because I didn't know any better and thought the HP was needed. It would be good to have both sets to make your healers job a tad easier when needed. Some healers will be fine but others won't. But for points just go STR.
