Redundant Pet Hotbar

Not sure if I've just been blind and missing the setting, or if there is no current way to fix this issue I've been having.

I play with a gamepad on pc version of game, as such I have all hotbars turned off save for one vertical one I use as a visual reference to know when my cooldowns are ready. However during certain activities, such as using cannons or the "Time of my Life" GATE, the pet hotbar will appear on my screen. This is kinda annoying since the commands also appear on my crossbar, is there anyway to turn off pet hotbar for these few scenarios?

Also, yes, I do have pet hotbar turned off on my display tab in hotbar settings.

I have the same setup, Xbox controller for pc. I do use a mouse however.

I have taken a different approach, I have one horizontal no that under the cross bar for cool downs, but I also use the others.

I shrink the hotbars to the smallest size for ease of view. I have 2 vertical hotbars for emotes on the left side of the screen, 2 vertical hotbars on the right for marks/macros.

I have the pet hot bar at the very top of the screen, again shrunk right down, with chocobo commands on it. I have found that useful when soloing.

All that aside, if you don't want it, move it to a place on the screen well out of the way and shrink it.

I have the same issue on PS4. I've moved the horizontal pet bar to where it isn't really in my way, but it still seems wrong that this extra bar that's both unusable and redundant should be stuck with no way to turn it off.

They actually fixed this a couple of patches ago, but then un-fixed it when they fixed something else. It seemed to only be a side effect of what they were actually doing.

The 2.5 patch notes said this:
The pet hotbar will automatically be assigned to hotbar 1 when interacting with objects or mounts that make use of the pet hotbar.

The 2.51 patch notes said this:
In patch 2.5, the pet hotbar was changed to automatically be assigned to hotbar 1 when interacting with objects or mounts that make use of the pet hotbar. However, this has been adjusted to only occur if use of the mount or object is required for the completion of a duty.

For me, the context action bar had already been replacing page 1 on my cross-hotbar. I don't use the other hotbars, so I don't know how it used to work for them. But the pet hotbar would always appear in certain situations, even though I was already using the cross-hotbar. It was fixed after 2.5, but not fixed after 2.51.
