DoL Quests - Gear - leves

First let me say I really enjoyed fishingnin FFXI. I had the Lu Shangs and Ebisu rods and will never forget the effort and time it took to obtain those items.

I am a level 43 miner and so far see no real reason to even level any DoL class / job. I know the materia system is being released in 1.19 but will materia be hard to obtain? Or will it just be "over gathered" and become worthless? I would think the devs have already considered this and it will be somewhat hard to obtain.

What i would like to see is some epic quests that result in some epic gear. 10000 moat carps - maybe not the most creative quest but it separates the men from the boys

I dont agree on the 10000 moat carps, but perhaps more along the lines of 100 of this 200 of that etc. But what exactly would be the reward, with hq tool and food you can already gather the maximum amount at each node and its already simple enough at 50 to gather any item in the game
