I use a 110 crafted weapon on my mules, and it's enough to get you through the main story line without being a dead weight for your party.

The 135 Zeta weapons are the current end to the relic quest line.

Yes you have to, but you're looking at a crapton of work and in order to make the weapon "BiS" you also have to spend millions and millions of gil for the novus melds (31 determination gg). The point is, Zeta is only 5 ilvl higher than the poetic tome weapon and come heavensward everything will change drastically anyway.

My advice for your general progression would be to finish the current MSQ and Crystal Tower questlines and do every of the new dungeons you didn't do yet once. This way you will unlock daily expert roulette for poetics and soldierey, high level roulette for soldiery and the CT weekly for upgrade items (carboncoat uprgrades poetic accessories from 120 to 130, carbontwine upgrades poetic left side pieces from 120 to 130, and the encrypted tomestone +1300 poetics is needed to buy the 120 poetic weapon which can also be upgraded to 130 via carbontwine).


Gear progression:

- get a relic zenit for your nin in order to have a wep that doesn't completely suck.

- do dungeons/high level dr for soldiery and drops to gear up. Soldiery isn't capped. Buy soldiery pieces until you are i90 which is the ilvl req for the expert dungeons and Wolrd of Darkness.

- do expert dr to cap poetics (450/week). save up 3 weeks/1300 poetics.

- run WoD for i120 left side gear, get i100 accessories from mor dhona with soldiery.

- run Syrcus Tower to get some Oil's of Time to upgrade right side to i110.

- do CT weekly and get one encrypted tomestone as a reward and one carbontwine the week after (and twines/coats the weeks after that ofc, depending on your poetic purchases).

- once you have 1300 poetics, get 10 Rowena's Token (Poetic) and change them together with the tomestone for your i120 ironworks daggers. Grab one of your carbontwines, go to Drake (the guy left of Gerolt in north shroud) and upgrade it to i130.

- you can then start to use your 150 poetics/week for gear purchases and use twines/coats to upgrade to i130. I'd suggest prioritizing the chest piece and pants (biggest impact on your overall damage and both BiS for nin).

- if you're into raiding, you might also get gear from second coil of bahamut. T6 and T7 are hella outgeared by now, have 20% echo and are nerfed to the ground in terms of mechanics. It drops i110 gear. If you haven't cleared T5 yet, it's easily pug'able by now.
