Platinum Card - Shouldn't it be Cumulative Points?

Hi All,

For Patch 2.55, they've introduced the Platinum Card Pack for Tournaments, which gives a chance for a very rare card. Per Patch Notes:

"- Players will be rewarded a Platinum Triad Card depending on the number of points they have earned when a tournament ends."

However, isn't this flawed? Specifically:

* Platinum Card Packs should be earned with Cumulative Tournament Points (over multiple Tournaments) as a trade in. This way it reduces the impetus for cheaters to Buy their Wins.

With the current rule of Platinum Cards only being earned *per Tournament* (earning a minimum number of points in that Tournament), then it still encourages Win-Trading / Cheating, because people will still need to earn a high amount of Points in that Tournament.

Did this really change anything?

Yoshi P, if you allowed the Platinum Card Packs to be earned / traded in for based on Cumulative Points in All Tournaments, then players wouldn't feel like they *have* to place in the, say, Top 3 - 5 (whatever the Minimum# of Points is), in each Tournament, and it would reduce the impetus to try and Win-Trade.

It also makes it more fair for all Players to eventually complete their Card Decks, rather than leaving these ultra rare Cards exclusively for the Top X# of winners in the Tournament each time.

I think you're assuming the points threshold for a Platinum will be very high. I expect from what Yoshi-P said it will be low enough to be achievable by anyone without cheating (per tournament), making the formerly exclusive cards less rare and lessening the impetus on people to cheat for them. It also gives everyone a shot at a very rare card, encouraging participation generally.

The problem is that most people weren't cheating for the card, they were cheating for the ridiculous MGP payout you get by placing in the top 3... which they haven't adjusted if I'm not mistaken. Cheaters will still be aplenty, but at least the legit players have a better chance and getting some compensation for their efforts now.

Nothing makes me more happy than having a good chance to win a card then being pushed out by some one that doesn't want the card and they "Just want it for MGP for choco racing"
-Change it so that over X amount of wins gives the Platinum card.
-Take away the weekly card for top 3
-Take away MGP bonus for anything besides playing all your matches.

Interesting. On my server, most of the people I talked to were hoping to get the Lightning Card. Because MGP (even if it's a big payout) is something everyone can earn, and eventually attain whatever amount is necessary.

Not so with an "Exclusive Card" that's only afforded to the Top 3 players (before this patch).

I just hope the Platinum Packs are within reason for all Tournament participants to get.

I'm surprised, but also pleased because it means more people are interested in the actual TT game than I expected! Hopefully the changes SE has made will be enough to offset the damage done by rampant cheating and those who put in legitimate effort will be rewarded. Since Balmung is so huge, I think the cheaters were mostly doing it to rake in MGP quickly, so they could ride around Mor Dhona on a Fenrir mount or in a Gambler's outfit because well... e-peen I guess :S

Seems like although the changes won't abolish cheating (though hopefully more changes to come in the future), it's certainly looking a lot less grim than the first two tournaments X_X
