All they do is nod and follow instructions and do not see blatant things that will get them into trouble later. Surprise surprise, this guy is one of the bad guys.
Honestly, I'm used to having my avatar/pc being silent after years of playing FFXI. In fact, I pretty much prefer the silent pc, because I feel like I have more freedom to pick how they're supposed to feel and react internally than I usually feel when they're voiced. It's a huge part of why Dragon Age Origins is my favorite Dragon Age, I like the silent pc when compared to the voiced one. Everyone has different tastes, granted, but there are benefits to doing it both ways, I just prefer the silent pc myself.
