Thread: Our passive characters and why the 2.55 story fails (BIG SPOILERS) (rant warning)

I kinda found our character's passive nature fitting to be honest, specially if you keep in mind some of the "jabs" midgarsowm-whats-his-name has been tossing our way since he invited himself to perch on our shoulders ^^; ... and I also agree with our character being a "blank slate" for us to project upon. Maybe im just a wuss but fighting off the whole of the brass blades unarmed, right after the shock of seeing nanamo keel over, I honestly don't know what "I" would do lol.

I wouldn't mind more interaction with the characters. Even if the plot remains the same, ultimately I'd like to be able to chose some flavor text and get reactions based off of that. Even if our ultimate actions/choices are uniform, the surface-level personality would be nice to have some control on.

It would amount to a little more writing in specific instances that the MSC chimes in their opinion, but it would do a world of good in the face of the hurt reactions we've had feeling the lack of it.

Like the character's reaction to the poisoning. Giving us three to four choices of how to express their shock (worry, anger, dismay, dumbfounded). Then another choice to retort to Teleji would go the world over with me.

That ending, that ended with the question what happened to our companion and why the garleans brainwash kids?

The ending of the 1.0 mainstory was still very open at the end.

Jenlyns tells you a few interesting things:
- Firstly, and this is known since a lot of time, the order is only the shadow of itself since the holy sword is missing. There are very few of them actually, they can't be everywhere.
- Secondly, the overall security for the feast was given to the copper blades. This may include the surveillance of the Sultana's quarters.

Besides, it's clear that the corruption level is astonishingly high. Bribing a couple of door guards shouldn't be impossible. Or, like Natsuno said, Teledji most likely just showed up and came blasting in the room with the guards taken aside by Teledji's authority (yes, he can do that (Edit: Well, not anymore, but you get the idea)).

Finally, Ul'dah's forces have been split to send soldiers to the Coertas to help defending Ishgard. Even the evil Lalafells remind you of that fact, saying that it was a setup from you in order to weaken Ul'dah's defenses.

So, yeah, your nitpicking can be explained in a multitude of different boring ways which would have been boring to watch during a cutescene.
I mean... are you aware that they just can't cover every little plot hole just to explain boring and ovbious stuff to the viewer, considering that the cutscenes are already really long?

Again, all of these events are just some obvious tropes we've already seen hundreds of time already. The "You must be fun at parties" meme was created for people like you.

This whole discussion reminds me of the ending of mass effect 3, and people trying to explain that ''really! the ending makes sense! it does!''. And they made up all these elaborate theories in an attempt to find some sense where there was none.
