Easter Bunny is purely a US thing. Sorry, but I have to point out that the Hare (or Bunny) has been a symbol of the Spring celebration around Easter since pre-Christian times in Northern Europe. Eggs, too have been a symbol for several thousand years, including the practice of colouring them. Chicks, due to their relationship with eggs, fall into the same category.

Chocolate Eggs started in 1875 and the Dove Cake was invented between the two World Wars by Angelo Motta in Italy.
