Not into the entire sci-fi thing. And the semi-action combat just didn't feel right.

Sounds like you have a serious dilemma. No game exists that satisfies what you're looking for. No baby WoW and FFXIV doesn't support your preferred raid size.

Actually Wildstar is the only game I've heard of that's made an effort at the huge raids of yesteryear, and my understanding is that it was a colossal failure.

Apparently organizing 40 people is just as much of a logistical nightmare now as it was ten years ago. Weird.

Yes indeed. But the OP has no issues with it. I used to be a raid leader and it sucked. Shoot I barely want to be in a static hence why I still haven't cleared T9. The time commitment makes it feel more like a job and takes the fun away. I work too hard in my real job to want to stress about in game items.
