Kicked for not going into the belly in WoD

So, I was with my friend fighting against Cerberus as a healer, and the whole group said for DPS to go into the belly. I was against that, and so was he, but they did it anyway. With that people went and kicked him just because of that.

I can understand the discrepancy in play when it comes to DF Alliance Raids, but they shouldn't outright kick someone just because person doesn't do X.

The issue comes from the strategy. If you're only going to have a few DPS go in, you need a tank to go as well to grab the Unknowns or else they will kill the DPS (so a tank would have to be aware of this if the raid agreed on this start).

If all the DPS go in the walls die fast enough the Unknowns don't have time to kill anyone, so tanks can stay out and focus on the Wolfsbanes.

If the raid agreed to strategy #2, the tanks are going to assume they can change focus. If the DPS decide last second they would prefer to not get eaten, those DPS are going to be responsible for wiping the entire raid. That's why your friend was kicked. Majority rule for how to handle mechanics trumps personal preference. If said personal preference goes against the established start and could harm the success of the raid, expect consequences.

His friend was kicked because at least 4 people in his party decided to abuse the Kick function, which as far as I know,can still be reported as harassment.

Incorrect. It is a reasonable use of Vote Kick to remove someone who won't be a part of the team strategy. You cannot be reported for that. Well, you can. But GMs will throw that report away.

Harassment, though the way you word it of course makes it more them harassing.

That said, the Alliance agreed to it, and if they did voice objections in an aggressive way and refused to do so, it can be seen as harassment. Just pointing out.

They have said that you can kick if people aren't playing the way the rest of the group wants. Its been pointed out in many threads where people were kicked for viewing cutscenes as the rest wanted to speed run. Not following the strategy is surely going to fall in that same category. This thing about reporting people for the kick is just dumb...

That said, I wouldn't have kicked you for it. You should just stop typing in chat if you don't want to follow the strategy. Stop arguing with people about it. They most likely wouldn't have even known that you did your own thing if you didn't draw attention to it.

''Team strategy'' If they didnt have enough people go inside and wiped because of it, they obviously didnt decide on the strategy as a team, did they?
