I enjoy 8 man raids, because it requires each person to pull their weight. As somebody who raided at a high level in early WoW, the most difficult part about 40 man raids were the logistics, not the raid itself. Raids were designed around the fact that 1/3 to 1/2 of the group were going to be bad players, too laggy to do anything, or just simply dead weight. Even the later 25 man raids allowed for a lot of slack, and it wasn't until Heroic raids were introduced in Ulduar (sort of) and TotGC/ICC (officially) that the large majority of the group was required to actually do their job.
That being said, I do foresee problems arising from small group sizes in the near future. As is often discussed on the tanking forums, PLD doesn't have a lot going for them. When there are three tanks classes to choose from and only two tank spots to fill, I fear we will see the weaker tank being left behind quite often (when it comes to high level raiding, casual players will play what they enjoy to play). The same problem will occur for DPS and for healers. Whether this will become a "this job is best for this fight" or a "this job is just crap, leave it behind until the next patch" I don't know, but either way, it won't be good.

LMAO all you do is make topic to talk **** about ffxiv. So just like your hack post i be reporting this one too. But seem like you do this a lot going to each MMO then talking **** about it. I guess that how you think you get more subs on youtube/twitch.

The OP clearly doesn't manage a raid team.
The hardcore player population in this game cannot support a 24 man raid with the comparable difficulty to FCoB. There's just not enough people. WoW in its heyday had sooooo many players and could support huge raids.
I can only go by experience in FFXI, but it was effing hard to get ppl together for 18 man bosses, granted stuff like Panda and Abso Virtue took HOURS to beat, I think the 8 man solution is great for this type of game, as we see in CT, 24 man stuff is just button mashing the HP to zero, most times ignoring many mechanics. Orchestrating some of the challenging and exciting Coil mechanics would be a pain to formulate for 24 ppl, and Coil would be crap if it was a "stand there and button mash your combo till boss hits 0%" like other popular MMOs.

I'm just going to put in my 2 cents. I have done coil up to Second Coil Turn 4 and I have completed all 3 raids for Crystal Tower, Personally I prefer the 24 man raids more than I enjoy coil. The reason I like 24 man raids is because it feels epic being part of a larger group to take on a common goal than a team of 8 players. In a team of 8 doing Coil it doesn't feel as massive as a typical MMO should, and people complaining that they have a hard enough time getting 7 other players need to rethink their schedules, or question the commitment of their team. Yes everyone has a life outside of the game but if you made a commitment to do something then you should at least stick by it unless something IRL does come up. Getting raids together just all comes down to scheduling, look at EVE Online. I ran a pretty big corp in that game and my mining/production director would schedule mining operations on the weekends and we would have 10 or more players usually show up.
About your commitment to downing content that is only over a year old and has only 20% echo.
Look, you want to take the game as casually as possible, be my guest. But don't come lecture people about how easy it is to coordinate a raid team when you have done literally zero content requiring such a team.

I did T5 and failed multiple times before the echo came out so yes I am a little late to coil party. I don't causally play this game either otherwise I'd completely skip the binding coils entirely. Have I tried putting teams together? Yes I have, also where in my post did I say it was easy? Because I sure don't remember saying it was. So please do tell me more of how hard it is to schedule a time to attempt a raid for a few hours. Because it sure doesn't seem hard for my FC to it. Anyway it doesn't seem that hard to sit down and ask everyone what would a good date and time to run coil.
