Actually Wildstar is the only game I've heard of that's made an effort at the huge raids of yesteryear, and my understanding is that it was a colossal failure.
Apparently organizing 40 people is just as much of a logistical nightmare now as it was ten years ago. Weird.
Yes indeed. But the OP has no issues with it. I used to be a raid leader and it sucked. Shoot I barely want to be in a static hence why I still haven't cleared T9. The time commitment makes it feel more like a job and takes the fun away. I work too hard in my real job to want to stress about in game items.
So much win in that video!

You really aught to design your own game then.
"hard-core no baby REAL MMO, dragon themed, no semi action combat, with 24-60 man raids"
Give me a shout when it finds commercial success.
Do you happen to be looking for what Everquest used to have when a God would walk the lands and it would take the effort of several hundred players, and thousands of deaths / re-spawns before it could killed.
My memory on this is foggy, as it was more than 15 years ago.
IIRC , at the PAX interview (the really big famitsu one) Yoshida acknowledged the fact that they can't keep the same 8 man stuff forever and that people want more variety.
I really hope they are considering it...
7 page thread about end game raids started by someone who hasn't reached max level yet, okay then! I don't care how many raids you've done in other games, you don't start complaining about something you haven't even experienced yet, period.
Personally I'm very happy with the end game in this game because being older than I used to be playing WoW, I have less time to mess about with the drama that 40-man (yea I know it hasn't been 40 any more for a long time) raiding brings with it and as people have mentioned before it was and probably is a logistical nightmare.
Is there an audience for hardcore large scale raids? Sure. Is that audience big enough to warrant SE spending resources on pleasing them? Probably not - it's as simple as that.
