Well I'm currently in a DF group as I cant leave during combat. The situation is terrible. Even if you explain the tactics to them they do the exact opposite. This is definitely a fight for PF or FC groups.

The Duty isn't hard it's just people not using their brain... You have to man the cannons and use them do dispose of the adds and dish out damage to the boss. Leave the cannons when the connal AOE is targeting the cannons and fall back to the second row of cannons. You have to make sure to also use the "dragon killer" weapons up on the towers when the boss is chained. It's not hard but since most people don't look at what is happening and just blindly DPS the boss and the adds no one look out for those manning the cannons so when there is only one doing his/her job you lose a lot of DPS and it also becomes real hard to activate the chains if you are alone trying to do it while being the target of whatever adds that slip past the second tank...

its like with wod at release, first few trys its too hard but after some time you can do it blind.

Have better things to do with my time than wipe 3+ hours to a story boss that drops zero loot

I beat it using the Duty Finder.
One tank picks up the large adds, Put the other tank on the cannons.
Have the lowest DPS take the other cannon.
Assign a DPS to run up the Towers.
One DPS switches between Boss and Adds
The last DPS stays on the boss.
The Tank with the adds as well as anyone iwth other adds on them runs to the cannons placing the adds so the cannons hit both the boss and the adds.
1st Tower There is no snare so Dragonkiller just gets used.
2nd tower. Cannoneers wait until boss starts using Bridge covering AOE then activate Snares. After Boss is snared (Chains on neck) The Dragonkiller is used.
3rd Tower Same as second tower.
ALL DPS KILL THE BOSS.

need to find people in DF who can read though :/I beat it using the Duty Finder.

That's always a challenge. Important thing is healers do not waste MP on Battle Raises. You can release and run back and infinite amount of times. Your timer is killing the big dragon before it reaches the end of the bridge

This can be done in DF with start above but on my final run in which resulted in a victory no one ran and used the canons until the dragon was in range of them, all dps focused boss as it's pointless and waste of time for them to just stand around and believe it or not that with a DRG, BRD, SMN and NIN it helped more than people thought it would and we managed to kill it before we reached the gate.
