Yeah I noticed it. I also liked the change, so I took the oppertunity before & after the trial to take some screenshots. Also, did anyone notice the colors are REALLY vibrant in that trial? At first I thought it was my monitor pooping itself, but it disappeared after the trial and was very apparent while I was on my Monk (my monk is wearing bright, bright blue). I was alarmed by the sudden upping on contrast, but it looked really nice. I wonder if Heavensward is also going to see a similar lighting change? I think the color change was also present in a few parts of the 2.55 cutscenes (I definitely noticed it in the cutscene after the credits, along with a lot of cloth texture). I just don't really understand why this dramatic lighting change was added specifically to this trial.![]()

Yeah, and this is really sad to me. It's the lack of player ability to think outside their own character (even worse, their own DPS) that prevents decent innovation in MMOs.
Oh man, we got a real bad-ass in here! This story quest wasn't as hard as T9, so he's disappointed! So after reading the OP's post I actually thought I was in for T9 Duty finder type of hard, which did not overly concern me. Today I did the quest line, used the Duty finder to enter the "Steps of Faith", and we annihilated it second try. I was disappointed because it was way too easy. If it 1 month people were still not passing it this post would have been valid. T9 took me around 100 tries, but that rush of beating it was so worth it. Please SE keep it Hard
After the maint is done I'll get some screenies of my Monk in and out of the trial. It's super noticeable with some colors than others. I barely noticed it on my t9 tank coat because I already precieve it as red and the trial just made it redder.
Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one who noticed it, lol. My static is all men so when I asked them about it they were like, "Gurl r u high?" I wonder if the whole game is gonna get a lighting overhaul in Heavensward then or if its hinted that the lighting and rendering of colors is going to look different in the Heavensward areas. It certainly make the ARR areas look more... gloomy and almost uninviting. Then again, I suppose that fits the ending of 2.55.

The story mode should be getting progressively harder. While the Chrysalis and the new trial are steps in the right direction, I think the difficulty may have suddenly risen by a clear margin. But, if this trial becomes a roadblock for some players, it will eventually get nerfed, if by nothing else, the gear increases will do the job.
I did my run of it for the first time yesterday. It took us 3 tries to down it, with our second attempt almost killing it as well. We had mostly a new party, but we managed to beat it because we organized stuff, and frankly taking any sort of initiative is usually the weakest link the df parties.
Progressively harder content should be the way to go. Even if people are casual, they shouldn't expect to A.) Faceroll everything B.) Get carried through everything.

Took me and a few friends some 6-7 tries (2 abandons) in DF before we cleared. All three of us were blind-running, took on different stratgies each time, and tried to adjust.
IMO, yes, it's hard. And I actually enjoy hard every once in awhile. This was intense, and definitely a really fun fight. My only lament is the amount of time this trial eats up with each fail, especially after it becomes evident that Vishap the Mishap isn't going down in time.
But as others have said, coordination is key.

i dont think that the new trial is to hard.
I did it yesterday with my first DF group and it took us 3 tries to beat the dragon.
First try: we just did the normal spank and tank and we failed
2nd try: we organized our group, canon, tank adds, dps, chains and so on, and we failed cuz we missed the 3rd chain^^
3rd try: we forgot our lb3 and still managed to win =)
All u need is to communicate with everyone in the group
To tell the truth, this fight is not really hard. The problem: people is so self centered and lot of lack innovation. It is not only this fight. I will give you example: KOTL. You know in third area the fire from airship can hurt the mob ? Sadly DPS (range) and healer still away from the mob pack.
Now this fight, you need to use anything to down the dragon. Even it is plank, nuclear missile, or boulder (well just exaggerating non of this are in this fight), anything which is help. Who should do mechanic like this ? In small team or medium team, the one should do mechanic like this is DPS (except tank and healer say otherwise).
The main focus in this fight is actually:
1. Kill the adds ASAP. (how ? Using cannon. If you had cleared SV HM, the cannon is the same, 1 - 2 shoot, all adds dead, except boss adds).
2. Beat the boss to pulp. (how ? Beat manually + using dragon killer. If you done it right, one of the tank can active dragon killer).
Actually, I tried like 8 times before down this. All my first 5 times, people do not want to do what he had assigned. Abandoning their cannon job (maybe they target the boss and did not see any damage), refuse to cooperate, etc. Meanwhile the last 3 tries is a bit solid pug team. The first try is a mess due to the OT does not listen to strategy and tank away the mob from cannon range. Second try a bit better, but dunno why healer suddenly stomped by the boss again and again (as before not lol). The third try is the cleanest, without LB3 and without the third gate destroyed.

This is true. This isn't like Titan HM where 5 people can fall off the cliff and the 3 people who are i130 can carry the rest to victory. Everyone needs to contribute in some way, even if that means you're not really hitting the boss and instead on a cannon most of the time. This really helps bridge the gap between the ilevel requirement of the run and the ilevel that those doing end-game raids are (unless you're a lower geared tank trying to pick those adds off an i130 WHM who just Medica II'd because I don't think that'd work too well, lol). My monk is barely over i100 and I felt I contributed solidly with my cannon DPS when normally I take her into ST and I feel like I did eff all because I'm 30 ilevels below my main.
To be fair, the game is inconsistent with such things. To tell the truth, this fight is not really hard. The problem: people is so self centered and lot of lack innovation. It is not only this fight. I will give you example: KOTL. You know in third area the fire from airship can hurt the mob ? Sadly DPS (range) and healer still away from the mob pack.
The bombs in the first area in Brayflox HM? I'm pretty sure they only hurt us and not the enemies, despite working the *exact* same way otherwise.

Noticed the same thing too. Especially when the duty failed and the scene zoomed in to your character bending down and catching his/her breath, it was super obvious that the colours were much stronger and vibrant.
