The trial title should be changed to "Target is Too Far Away". <_<
I enjoy it though.

It give players a reason to learn to communicate before heavensward come.
You don't need a FC or to use PF. All what you need are people in DF who can think.

Well since you came to the forums and have experienced the fight here are some key things to remember.
*Cannon are doing the main dps so it's makes sense to have dps on them.
*Cannon DPSers also activate snares (orange pillars) when the straight block rectangle AoE appears.
*When he does Cone AoE, abandon first cannon set and fall back to second set.
*Tanks need to gather adds for Cannon Fire.
*One person uses dragon killer when snared, most like 3rd dps. Not sure on the timing of the first since I was on cannon duty.
copy and paste in /party chat. took us two tries for win but easy once each person knew their role.

The only real threat in this fight is your own team members not listening or doing their jobs. I've been trying this fight for the last 2 hours with 3 separate teams and we've only gotten him less than 50% ONCE because half the team didn't follow instructions. Had to keep a healer on one of the cannons because all the dps ran off. People who stole aggro from tanks didn't think to stop attacking and drag the adds within cannon range.
When I do clear this fight, I'm never doing trial roulette again.

And this is why we can't have endgame dungeons that are actually fun..
Its the last fight of the main story its supposed to be hard could you imagine if you could just 1 shot Sepheroh?
I kind of agree with this...but I also didn't have to rely on two idiots across an internet connection to fight Sephiroth. :P I like fights that require mechanics and some degree of knowing what to do, but requiring that for an 8-man either means you take a while getting a party together OR you go into Duty Finder and yakety sax intensifies.
Cleared it with at about 80/100 progress.
Had 1 healer and 1 tank on cannons (cause they have nothing else to do.)
1 Tank grabbed everything and kept it under the boss.
All 4 DPS AoE'd or burned big adds.
Weakest DPS was in charge of dragonkiller. Took a wipe (cause everyone was new and we missed the dragonkiller twice). First attempt got him down to 20%, second we cleared.

As of right now, most people are still learning how to truly down this fight in a reasonable amount of time. I've been seeing all sorts of different strategies employed to make it happen so far. I think the best one I've seen suggested is one Tank and one Healer on the cannons while the other Healer does nothing but heal and the other Tank grabs adds, while all DPS focus on the boss and add AoE to the mobs.
I'm rather mixed on this fight myself. On one hand, I welcome a challenge. But on the other hand, this is part of the Main Scenario. I already claimed this fight as the fight that'll separate people from being able to make it to Heavensward or not, tee hee. So I can't help but feel that somewhere down the line, this fight will take a slight nerf anyway, regardless of how everyone else feels about this fight.
I managed to clear the fight myself. Took about 4 wipes before landing in a DF party that got it down. Thinking about it, I think they DID use the "One Tank and one Healer on cannons" strategy, but I wasn't paying too much attention to that because I was on Dragonslayer duty. And boy, did I enjoy dropping them missiles on the bad boy.
Regardless, the content just came out, so it'll be awhile before we see this go one way other. And I'm sure most players are hoping this fight just remains as is while it gets easier anyway as the majority of the player base ultimately decides on the best strategy for bringing it down in a reasonable amount of time. I do find it funny though that there are people in here claiming this fight isn't hard when it actually IS one of the harder fights in this game, lol.
My only disappointment with this fight is there being no loot rewards at the end. Otherwise, I thought the fight was awesome.
PS: The real majority of the difficulty though comes from landing in groups where people end up being derps sadly. Partially a reason why I avoided MMO gaming back then.

Initial impression of this fight: I really, really don't like it. If it doesn't get toned down a notch (which I imagine it eventually will be), I can easily see a lot of people not even making it to Heavensward.
Threads like this one popping up don't surprise me one bit. Nor do all the responses touting how easy it is once you know how to do it (wow, so pretty much like everything else in the game)
