You should never dehumanize anyone.
But you can totally laugh at the idea that they're acting like a basement dwelling stereotype.

I find this refreshing and funny as well. Now I have this mental picture of these people and I have you to thank for it.I used to get upset at people like this but now I picture 600 pound man blobs sitting in a dusty dirty basement playing on their windows XP machine half naked and unshowered in weeks shouting at their monitor in barely coherent whiny voices, "COME ON!!! OH MY GOD WTF???? WOW OMG OMG".
Suddenly it's amusing to me and I can actually laugh very very hard at these people.
While there is very little to be gained from trash talking random pug groups, assuming those that do are fat basement dwellers is as naive.
They are often, not always, accurately seeing the poor performance of other players (large #s of people put in very little effort and/or have low skill levels), and they are just responding excessively or emotionally. For example if you are very good at something it can be extremely frustrating to work with someone very bad, and very hard to put yourself in their shoes to empathize. Compound that with people who could do better and just don't try would add further frustration.
Yes there are a lot of examples of players who don't try and intentionally cause wipes that could have been avoided due to their own laziness and uncaring mannerism and, in-turn, this causes people to waste time wiping over and over again because of it.
But this thread topic is about brand new content and people raging at others over it. Thus my reply was specifically tailored towards UNREASONABLE rude behavior. And I like to think of people who are unreasonably rude as something rather stupid and thus that comparison came to mind.
Due to the thread topic being about unreasonably rude players, I did not in any way mean to imply that players who get mad at the players who are intentionally being lazy and creating wipes are all under the same category.
I mean there's also things like creating farm parties and noobs join and cause wipes cuz they can't handle the content. There are JUSTIFIED reasons to get mad at people, I'm not this naive. But once again, the thread topic is about unreasonable rage.
Meh whatever.
As a tank, I'll say this. Practically every dungeon run is a test of my sanity as a human being. People pulling for me, healer switching to cleric stance and DPSing (not healing me), not following marks, not communicating what they want sleeped, and so forth. If I'm a bit snippy, there's a reason. I'm not entitled or anything like that, it's four or five runs a day with people like that wear on my nerves.
Shouldn't people be at work? Lol talk about priorities

So you shouldn't dehumanize someone, but you can make a caricature of them? Seems like a semantic difference to me.
Whatever floats you boat at the end of the day. It's not a huge deal how people interact on the internet. I'm just saying that I personally prefer taking a turn-the-other-cheek approach. That's the way that works for me. I get along pretty well with both "casuals" and "elites" (though, really, the super-abstract stereotypes of both those parties are extremely rare; most players are somewhere in between). If at times I expressed sentiments that were viewed as being more extreme than that then I apologize for poorly expressing myself.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
