    Revelations from Patch 2.55 [SPOILERS]

Don't forget to be courteous and keep unmarked spoilers and rampant discussion about new events in here while the first few waves go about their progress! But, the time has come! Let's get down to business!

There's not much new to add to the world-lore, but let's start with three now-knowns:

    The Son of Midgardsormr

Nidhogg is a son of Midgardsormr and the one who is rousing the others to war. The dragon seen landing on the bridge does not seem to be one of Midgardsormr's children, however. Instead, Vishap is referred to as one of Nidhogg's greatest champions.

    Raubahn's Adopted Son
The adopted lalafell Pipin Tarupin has glorious hair, a bull-horns helmet, and just as much honor as Raubahn.

    Mechanic Limitations
By current indications, the time bubble still seems to be a thing. Plot armor, not so much. Content seems to go in order of patch release (though not necessarily level). So, for instance, there's now evidence supporting the assumption that, despite their discrete lines, The Binding Coil of Bahamut happens before Syrcus Tower, and Syrcus Tower happens before The Final Coil of Bahamut. For further clarity, the battle with Ramuh would have taken place at the same time as Syrcus Tower and the Second Coil of Bahamut. Despite this there's yet to be any evidence to make claims that time movement accompanies time passage.

Scenario Developments (DO YOU REALLY WANT TO READ THIS BEFORE DOING IT YOURSELF? Advice: No. No, you don't.)
    Ishgard
Iceheart brings down the outer layer of Ishgard's defenses and the Dravanians attack. She, too, seeks the Eye on behalf of Nidhogg. Aware of their hypocrisy, Ishgard humbly reaches out for aid, only the Scions reply. After the great dragon Vishap is driven off, a feast is announced, to be held in Ul'dah, where it is to be officially declared that Ishgard will rejoin the Eorzean Alliance.

    The Traitors in the Ranks
The suspected traitors to the Crystal Braves were until now varied, ranging from Yuyuhase, devout lover of coin, Ilberd, who lost so much to gain too little too late, and various sellswords that have been given second chances to along the way. Simplified, it's pretty much all of them, paid off by various shell companies owned by the Mirage Trust.

    Revolution
Teledji makes his move - Nanamo Ul Namo is assassinated (poisoned). With the Brass Blades and Crystal Braves in his employ, Teledji publicly accuses the Scions, revealing the Echo and spinning it as sorcery, alleging an intricate plot to overthrow the realm. Enraged, Raubahn eviscerates Teledji, but loses his left arm to Ilberd. Lolorito capitalizes politically, coming out of the debacle with the most gained and the least lost.

To buy time for escape, Yda, Papalymo, Thancred, and Y'shtola stay behind to fight pursuers and suffer fates that imply death (but perhaps are not, leaving the door open for a return). At the last moment, Hydaelyn reaches out to Minfilia and she, too, stays behind. Only the Warrior of Light escapes, leaving the same way they came - alone, in a chocobo-drawn carriage.

    Asylum
We have few precious allies left; the carriage merchant brothers, Cid, Alphi and Ali, Tataru, House Fortemps, and the Domans. For now, we'll seek shelter in Ishgard, whose inhospitable nature will play to our advantage for once.

    Ascians
Post-credits, Lahabrea and Elidibus discuss the death of Nabriales (and that the ardor "was not his" to invoke), and then the idea of moving northward to presumably continue meddling with gods and chaos. Lahabra slips up and refers to the plan as "my will," Elidibus corrects him that it's, "His will." After Lahabrea takes leave, Urianger arrives and says that he's answered the Emissary's summons - Elidibus says he'd like to discuss the fate of this planet. Interpretation of all of the above is pretty open.
