Patch 2.55 new card NPC's and changes to rules & card sets.

There are no new cards.

I'm willing to bet that the eight cards in the Platinum Triad Card packs will be:
Lightning, Cecil Harvey, Firion, Tidus, Zidane Tribal, Warrior of Light, Terra Branford, Bartz

Zidane and Warrior of Light are the super rares from the Gold packs, and Terra and Bartz are the super rares from two of the Hildebrand trials. They all fit a theme - "main" character from a Final Fantasy. I highly doubt Cloud will be given away for free given how much he costs, and Squall and Vaan are achievement cards so they can't be in there. We have:

FF1: Warrior of Light
FF2: Firion
FF3: (Onion Knight? (reward from World of Darkness))
FF4: Cecil Harvey
FF5: Bartz
FF6: Terra Branford
FF7: Cloud Strife (1m MGP card)
FF8: Squall Leonhart (Achievement card)
FF9: Zidane Tribal
FF10: Tidus
FF11: N/A
FF12: Vaan (Achievement card)
FF13: Lightning
~~FF14: Godbert Manderville~~

That's eight "main" character cards that aren't achievements or MGP purchases. I know, I know, you can argue that Terra isn't the main character of VI and Lightning isn't the main character of XIII, but they're the initial focal characters and the ones used to promote the games, so they're close enough. (The two not-really-main-characters are also, unsurprisingly, the only females of the set, but that's a discussion for another forum.)

FF11 has Shantotto but otherwise your list seems correct.

As for Tataru, I've won both the Tataru (1 star) and Urianger (3 star) cards. It seems the time may be 5:30 PM to 5:30 AM. I have looked around for other npcs but so far haven't found any.

Oh, was she actually the main focal character? I never played FFXI, but figured the PC was the main character like in FFXIV.

And indeed, Shantotto is considered the main character for 11. I agree with your assement of the cards, but I guess we will need to wait untill the tournament is over to see for sure.

The Legendary cards are all the "main characters" as decided by the Dissidia game series, hence the cards using the art style found in the Dissidia games on psp.

In the first Dissidia game, there was one hero and villain from FF1-10, as well as Shantotto and Gabranth as secret characters. Dissidia 012 added Vaan and Lightning to represent FF12 and FF13 respectively, as well as other popular characters such as Tifa and Kain. The choices of "main character" were questioned when Dissida were released, especially since FF1-3 didn't even have "characters" so to speak. SE has stood behind the decisions they made with Dissidia, however, and the marketing of "main characters" has followed the Dissidia model for the last few years.

It is confirmed, Lightning does drop from Tataru. I just got the card now after about 40 wins.

Anyone got an exact on her window? FFXIVTriad seems to be very off. She just closed at 5:05PM, but she definitely didn't reopen at 5:05AM.

Shantotto isn't the main character for FFXI. She was a very well known npc involved in a lot of quests for the Federation of Windurst, and also the main focus of some add-on content, but she wasn't the main character. However, she was a very memorable character.

Helmhart in Eastern Thanalan has been nerfed. He wasn't too bad before the patch but he was a sneaky little bastard at times. His cards also got hit. He's got 1 and 2 star cards now. He's a complete pushover.
