Demimateria - Increased Drop Chance Please!

    Hey folks!

So I have been trying really hard to earn money in this game. It... it is not easy. Especially when I am trying to gear up my crafters. One of the most difficult things I have found is getting Demimateria.

Now Demimateria, for those not in the know, is acquired through desynthesis. For crafting AND gathering classes, a bare minimum of 10 Fieldcraft Demimateria III and 3 Mastercraft Demimateria is required for each individual class to get their Supra tool.

I am asking that the Demimateria drop rate on desynthesis be increased (similar to how Atma was increased somewhat recently) so that more up-and-coming crafters such as myself can bypass this extreme gil-consuming phase of relic tool upgrades.

I think the Lucis step is a much better way of going about relic tool upgrades, personally, as it relies on avenues that don't involve spending obscene amounts of gil and makes lesser-done content relevant.

    tl;dr:

Here is what I am saying:

-Improve drop rates of demimateria when desynthesizing items.

Here is what I am NOT saying:

-Make the 2.9/3.9 recipes for turn-ins or any other aspect to acquiring relic tool upgrades easier.

I get the feeling that in 3.0 the first lvl 51 DoW retainer venture will be for Garlean Steel Joint Plates (the expensive material for gsm desynth FC3)

Meaning I don't see them increasing drop rate.. maybe increasing yield.. but mostly making FC3/MCD desynthable items more easily accessible.

You realize, the only reason those crafts are considered hard is because of the costs?
If they were obtained with higher drop chance, it would push the prices down and that WILL make the craft easier..

Lucis tokens aren't exactly a walk in the park, with an average manual rotation you're looking at ~70-80% hq. That's lower than any of the 3-4 star recipes.. Even lower than the primal weapons.. Only reason Lucis token crafting is scoffed at is because it costs you almost nothing for failing.

Increase the drop chance, price drops, craft difficulty remains the same, but who cares about failing when it costs next to nothing?

i.e. I remember my first time crafting the manuals being a lot more memorable and difficult although I didn't fail any, it was one of the most tense moments I've had as a crafter because I only had 1million gil to fall back on and it was a do or die kind of situation.. All the manual tokens I did subsequently were not as memorable and not quite as difficult even though I've failed some of them quite a few times.. I just didn't care about losing a couple of FC3s here and there (this is after I started desynth, so I was getting FC3s for below MB price)

    It's all interconnected.

That said, I think you'll get your wish, since this is the last big patch before Heavensward, they'll probably make everything more accessible so people can catch up.. I'm not against the idea actually, I wouldn't mind getting a little more practice with difficult crafts, but your proposed idea has consequences you're not accounting for.

According to patach notes, Fieldcraft Demimateria III is now obtainable via trade with Talan. So there goes the market for that item.

The following normal quality items can now be exchanged for Fieldcraft Demimateria III with Talan in Mor Dhona at Revenant's Toll (X:21 Y:6):
Reinforced Spruce Plywood / Balanced Darksteel Hook / Reinforced Darksteel Wire / Calibrated Rose Gold Cog / Water-hardened Hippogryph Strap / Intricate Silver Brocade / Concentrated Spirits of Salt / Rich Tomato Relish
    Patchnotes Link

These items require 2 FC3s to craft.

So essentially if you failed a HQ synth for Master Books 2, you can at least turn-in the NQ to get 1 FC3 back.

Don't think it'll completely kill value.

I posted this thread literally the day before this happened.

I'm actually quite content with this!

Yeah you can get 1 back from the nq items that take 2 to craft. So they're a consolation prize if you're trying to hq them and fail, not a new method of farming them.

    Edit: beaten. gosh darn it.

with how cheap they have gotten to buy both field 3' and mcd, why desyth for your own, spend that time making something to sell and buy what you need.

plus you do realise they already got made easier.. when I did them on release I had to desynth a tonne of carbuncle clocks for a chance at 1 per desynth. took hours of grind to get the mats and custers to attempt them, now you can just go desynth cheap vender bought items and get on average 25 for 600k plus other materials you can sell on mb to recover some of that gil, on behemoth last I saw you could easy net 150k from the returned mat's and sell off 15 field 3's per 100 desynths, this way you keep the extra and get your gil back every time.

of course competition is tougher now due to rmt sellers but still its doable.

and at times you will even turn a profit so you can buy the mcd's you need. this is the easiest way in my opinion other than flat out buying them.

basically supras have already become a joke to get in comparison to the first introduction... you should be grateful you can get them so easily now
