Let the bodies hit the floor...

So random thought I've had for a very long time and I'm sorry if I'm repeating an old thread. Anyways, for the longest time I always wondered why every single character normal or not, big or lala, cat or hume, man or woman or lala (I don't know how to use commas ) has the exact same death animation. OK OK I know I don't know how much work goes into animations and I know for sure SE has better things to spend time on but may at least a death animation where the character falls forward instead of backwards? I remember when I first started playing the game I thought I was just unlucky and would always feel a little bit of excitement when my character fell to his knees and looked like he was going to fall forward only to not do that! All I'm mainly wondering is if anyone else has thought of this or if SE has noticed this and decided not to spend time on it or if they haven't realized it (I'm sure they have).

I noticed too, but didn't think anyone else cared. The death animations on human(ish) characters are all the same, even in cut scenes. They look like they got drunk halfway and fell backwards instead of forwards.

I found it a bit strange myself, I honestly thought when I first died that I would face plant forward but I was wrong. Just seems odd how we drop to our knees then fall backwards. XD

When our HP hits 0, are WE considered dead or unconscious? The active help says we're knocked out while PvP rules say anyone that you defeat counts as a "kill". For mobs/NPCs, they're all considered dead unless they got plot armor.

Most Final Fantasy games consider you to be in a state of unconsciousness instead of actually dead, XI and XIV included. Of course it starts to get kind of weird when the game also has the Death spell (and its variations), but you're still "killed" and revived in the same manner as if you were KO'd normally.

It's also not unusual for PvP KOs to count as a "kill". Plenty of real-life combat games refer to scoring/outing your opponent as a kill though you're obviously not killing them in the literal sense. Though I also remember character dialog that implies you're doing more than just knocking out your opponent, at least when talking about Frontline. Might be mistaken though.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Careful what you're asking for. I rather see my character fall as if he is drunk rather than him scurrying about on the ground with his hands around his neck as if he was choking on his own blood. No thanks.

seems kinda pointless to add more death animations, rather have those potential resources be put towards more useful things. personally i would rather just ragdoll after my KO animation and be whatever position i land in be the one i stay in.

I kind of wish there was a bit more lore in regards to KO and perma death, just to clear up the air.
