I think the story was done pretty well, but I am really upset with the fact that this MSQ left us with even more cliffhangers then plot points it wrapped up. I am also very disappointed in the fact of the way it portrays the PC. I mean, I am farming Bahamut.... I was literally shouting at my screen when I was watching what was going on. I understand why we need to be
a little helpless, but the fact it portrayed the PC as a coward was unsettling for me. None of those Scions would have been able to stop me from helping them. Papalymo can close that gate all he wants I can shoot arrows through the openings in it
Anyway, I watched these cutscenes with a friend of mine and she was under the impression that the Scions were dead. I don't think any of them are. Yda does Final Heaven on the "seemingly" final wave of Blades in their hallway, which looks like it encompasses them all (even though we know this to be a single target move, it doesn't make sense in that situation for her to perform that if it didn't dispatch them all). Unless this move has some new twist where it damages the user, I think they should be fine.
The only Scions I can feel
maybe were killed was Y'shtola and Thancred, only because of their ending dialogue. But....I just don't think so. We beat the crap out of Thancred's body at the end of Praetorium and he is fine. That arrow won't kill him. Y'shtola casting Holy in the tunnel, and the dialogue about "bringing it all down" and "being entombed with Thancred for eternity" seemed forced and unrealistic. But the main reason I don't think they are dead, is because (I thought) clearly Minfilia went back to save them. She was briefly contacted by Hydaleyn, and then was
gung-ho about going back. I thought it was interesting that was the first time we have even seen an interaction with Her in a while, and the sudden change in Minfilia's attitude after the brief encounter ended.
The scenes with Raubahn gave me such feels. He was the reason I joined Immortal Flames GC when I started this game, because his speech was truly invigorating. I would fight and die beside that man in battle, and when he enrages on Teledji I got instant goosebumps (even if the animations/expressions were a bit cheesy). When his arm was taken in battle, my jaw dropped. When Ilberd spoke to him as if he was nothing, I was FUMING at the screen because I WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE!!! I wanted to help. To see him in jail at the end, the only thing I wanted to do is start a coux in Ul'dah immediately and break him out.
3.0 confirmed = Lalafells are all evil ;-;
The cliffhangers are real. Even if I don't fully agree with some of the portrayals and the delivery of the story, I did thoroughly enjoy it. Anything that invokes so much thought and speculation can't be considered bad imo. I just wish I didn't have to wait almost 3 months for any type of resolution.
