    I just found a NPC in Ul'dah that saids

    ...Speaking of the sultana, I am informed that she has taken ill. Let us pray for her swift recovery!

    So I don't think she is dead.

    This doesn't mean anything. Nobody in their right mind would tell the general public that the Sultana was dead - there would be panic and maybe riots. If you were trying to take over a city, you wouldn't say "HA! I killed your queen! I rule now! Suck it!" you'd be smart about it and go "Oh no...the queen is deathly ill...Oh no...the queen passed away...what a horrible situation. I will step up to lead in this grievous time."
    It could be that she's still alive and fighting it, but I feel it's more likely that it's a fabrication to keep the public calm.

    Finishing the CUL lvl 50 quest after completing 2.55 makes me think she's really alive . That was a bit of a story breaking shock! (slight joking here, but for real doing that CUL lvl 50 quest after finishing 2.55 made me raise a few eyebrows)

    I only just started the DRG story (after finishing 2.55) and Estinien had no idea who the hell I was (even though we acknowledged each other in the 2.55 scene). I'm willing to simply call patch chronology and move on.

    As there is a coverup going on in Uldah perhaps they have placed a look-alike on the throne for now and our characters play along with it so as not to rock the boat before it's time for action? Only way I can rationalize it lol.
