If you saw a person with a book that shot laser balls at people, you might be singing another tune...

Betrayal from an unlikely quarter; theories.

When the vial was revealed to be damning evidence against us, my heart fell. Momodi was quite specific about keeping it on our person - something we would have discarded as irrelevant otherwise. As it wasn't addressed at this point, I'm presuming her betrayal will be addressed in 3.0.

Unless it's a double-bluff that Momodi and Lolorito are in on (and Kan-E-Senna/Merlwyb as Blaon highlighted above). Nanamo states she wishes to abdicate and then does so in a very subtle way. I'm pretty sure Teledji was innocent of arranging it; he seemed sincere in his denial when he didn't need to be - it was the mysterious handmaiden (shown to be in the service of Lolorito) who alerted him to the 'poisoning' after all. We were to take the fall and be imprisoned/rescued to get us out of the public eye too.

However, Nanamo didn't anticipate Raubahn losing it, killing Teledji and himself being mutilated (I'm fully expecting Raubahn to get a Garlond Ironworks arm upgrade early on in Heavensward). Perhaps she wasn't aware of issues within the Crystal Braves which came to a head as part of a separate plan by Teledji. It would explain why the other GC leaders bricked it and left.

If all this were the case, Nanamo's abdication would be less a dereliction of duties and more about going undercover to solve an issue that was plaguing her deeply that she couldn't do as Sultana. Presumably something to do with Omega Weapon? Though tbf I'm not sure on that, having completely ignored Frontlines so far.

Also, Yda will return in 3.0 and 'finally' get a new mask from Rowena. That cutscene will be cheesy as hell.

What "others" could he mean? We only saw Raubahn.

I can't say that everything in the ending surprised me, but I certainly didn't expect what happened to Raubahn. Not sure I particularly like that the Scions are MIA for Heavensward or that Urianger looks like a traitor.

One thing is certain though, if SE wanted me to hate the traitors and look forward to the eventual comeuppance, they did a great job.

At one point during the cutscenes one of the traitor Braves mention that all Braves loyal to the Scions had been taken care of (can't remember if he implies they were captured or not). I imagine that Aliane at least is one of them if she wasn't outright killed.

Part of me wonders about what Lolorito was actually expecting from all of this, because he didn't seem to happy at the end. Something must've not played into his hands properly, but considering he was reacting to the handmaiden's "It's done" comment, it can't be the PC escaping...

Unless he had a hand in that somehow, but I can't imagine *how* he would be able to.

Well... killing people who are accusing you of murder is probably not the best way to prove you're innocent

If Lolorito was behind it all along, then he is a real mastermind ! Sultana is dead, the nosy Scions are out, Raubahn went nuts and politically killed himself while removing the non-discreet Teledji... There stands Lolorito, at the top of the Syndicate, top of Ulda'h with merely Godbert as an opponent now. (Raubahn's son doesn't have his father's influence yet)

    Beware of Lalafells...

Speaking of which... Didn't Tataru seem strange to you in some cutscenes ? She was with Minfillia's mother, but Yugiri didn't speak of the Miqo'te.

Anyway great finale ! I really laughed when I saw Thancred taking an arrow in the knee and Y'shtola and her kind of "terra-holy"... Next time we have to fight a Primal, I want someone like her by my side !

I think Lolorito was behind the assassination, but I don't know if he wanted Taledji to die or Raubahn to get arrested, he didn't seem too happy about Raubahn killing Taledji perhaps he knows that he cannot rule alone, we know how much the common people hate the Syndicate, the common people would have much preferred Nanamo to rule alone rather than have the syndicate. Perhaps Lolorito knows that it will be hard to control the populace especially when they all learn of Nanamo's death.

With the entire syndicate though ruling would have been much easier.

So do we have to use the spoiler tags in this thread, considering it is marked as a place for spoilers? It sorta feels redundant but... just in case...

So did anyone else get a sick feeling as soon as your character picked up that phial? I was actually relieved when Chione showed it to Momodi, but fat lot of good that did in the end. Plot hole or intent?

This is the big problem with a story on rails. Even if you see it coming a mile away and don't care for it, you have to either keep going or stop playing. So I came away feeling mild discontent. It just don't sit well with me how useless my character was, and maybe that's how they wanted it to be, but ugh. I suppose I can take small comfort that the npcs I worried most about are confirmed survivors. My sympathies to those who's favorites are in limbo.

As for Urianger, I'm hoping that its the fella in white who's thinking to betray his boys and not our Shakespearean Elezen. Enough is enough.
