So as the title says with 2.0's story arc coming to a conclusion tomorrow so with the time allotted to us I thought it would be fun for us to discuss what we all think it will end like. As a reminder Camate has opened an official thread for spoilers/story discussion once it drops so if there was anything you all called or thought might be different please post it there after launch. Here we go
My personal take is this: Uldah is in a state of unrest. As such Nanamo has estentially decided to step down whilst disbanding the Monetarists effectively (though chaotically) paving the way for a democracy. As we are well aware she has asked the respective heads of state of Gridania and Limsa Lominsa to step in and maintain order until a proper democracy can be established. I somehow get the feeling that due to Garlemald's new emperor having come to power they will be on the defensive and as such strengthening their watch on their respective borders in preparation of a possible renewed invasion, they will have to send too few forces for this so-called peace keeping mission. So the Crystal Braves are requested to intervene as they are the self proclaimed guardians of Eorzea (via Alphinaud's mouth of course).
This of course Alphinaud says yes to but they too are spread thin what with Garlemald's impending threat looming, the primals, and now the immeadiate threats from Dravania and the Ascians. He does (like most of us) suspect a plot to assassinate the sultana so he sends his captain to further investigate. The current speculation is that the current captain of the Braves is a traitor but what if everything has been planned to involve him to make it look like he is going to assassinate Nanamo and because he is a friend of Raubahn entangles the latter in the plot soiling his reputation. Thus leading to, at best the complete dissolution of the Immortal Flames or at worst Raubahn's execution for treason and conspiracy to commit regicide.
All the while the Scions are dealing with the loss of a comrade and the grim knowledge that the Ascians can now come and go at will. Stuck between grief, a possible assassination, never knowing when another primal will surface, etc. has them frayed at the edges. Less than in ideal mental conditioning to deal with threats that they have no way of knowing when or where will strike.
Honestly I don't want to guess who will die. It could be all, some or none. But we know for sure from the last Live letter that something will have our characters depressed.
