Is there any way to disable for instance, when a player is crafting or converting gear to materia the chat notifications in your own box? It gets annoying when i'm having a conversation or trying to see if my own gear has completed spiritbonding by the chatbox to have 3 or 4 other players converting their gear right there or crafting closeby and I see their progress.

I would like to disable this for myself and for other nearby players. I've noticed that when some people convert gear that it doesn't show up in my chatbox but for the life of me I can't find this toggle in any configuration tab.

Yes its in the character settings under the logs tab. There you can adjust what is seen in each log and even add a fourth log to use. I made my main "general" log show most everything, though I removed most other player achievements; except for level ups, so that I could still congratulate them in duty. I also added a fourth "chat" log thst only has chat channels in it. Only the Chat log has Tells visible, so that my General log isnt bombarded. This way I'll hear the noise of a tell, and be able to see if its a spammer or a friend, but not have my main log overrun with bot messages.
