    Damage types

Maybe I didn’t look hard, but I still don’t know difference between damage types. Is here somebody who can explain it?
I know how works weapon elements (or how it should work becous I’ve never tested), but what is blunt damage? What’s difference with piercing damage?

Just like players wearing armour, different mobs have different resistances to different damage types. Wights and crabs are especially resistant to piercing, and so on.

Blunt is like sheer force damage. Taking a huge sledge hammer and pounding someone with it. Blunt-force trauma is what it's called right?

Peircing is the opposite. You apply all your damage into a single point that stabs the opponent. I believe it's good against chainmail.

chain mails are piercing resistant actually, currently they use them @ shark dives so a shark bites and the teeth cant pierce trough because of the overlapping chains on the chainmail ^.^ pretty cool eh?

Thank you all. I got the logic.
But I wonder, is it just simple Rock-paper-scissors mechanic or something more. For example, my LS mates noticed that PGL more often interupt cast. Is it becouse of blunt damage of most PGL WS or becouse PGL get 2 hit(3 hit with Flurry) or it's just our imagination?

More hits = more chance of interruption, and yeah Damage types = Scissors Paper Stone.

Is there a list somewhere of what mobs are resistant/susceptible to what damage type?

mid-evil chain mail was not pierce resistant. the only way to take down a knight would be to penetrate in between the plates of the armor. these weak spots were covered my chain mail which could resist a solid blow of a sword or a slash, but a thrusting sword would go through it.
the fencer is what ultimately led to the demise of the knight. fencers wore min armor so they could move fast and the thin blade was meant to piece those weak spots in the armor easier than a traditional sword. A stab around the arm pit region could penetrate the heart.

just some fun facts for yea.
modern shark proof chain mail is prob made of Kevlar or stainless steal or something even better

I haven't noticed different damage types to have any effect on the type of mob you're fighting (I miss this from FFXI).

In FFXIV it seems damage types only serve as an affinity for weapon skills (slashing weapons will have greater damage on slashing weapon skills than blunt weapons would).

I'm pretty sure plate became obsolete when black powder arms became too efficient against it, not because of fencers.
