EU datacenter - is it still gonna happen?

So in October last year at London Fanfest Yoshida announced they're going to set up servers in Europe, as in - real European servers, not the same Canadian ones all the western players are sharing right now. Since then not a single word was said on the matter. Does that mean they've silently abandoned the idea? If not, could we EU folks get at least a rough roadmap of when and how it's gonna happen?

Are these servers gonna be brand new or are they simply moving Chaos cluster? Will there be a free transfer period or will everyone have to pay? What about transfer limitations, like being unable to take more than a million in cash with you, not to mention FC and private housing people spent hundreds of millions on. For FCs that's been around since launch any kind of move is going to be a logistical nightmare, so the sooner we get some info the better.

There are a lot of pitfalls that come to server migration and new Data Centers.

-Extra Monthly Cost (Odds are the servers in Canada won't be any cheaper when obtaining a new Data Center)

Now here's a fun question, as the game stands now is latency really an issue for open world content, or is it moreso instances?

Is a new Data Center really needed or could they possibly implement a NA/EU, JP/EU option for said respected servers and have it where if you are in DF you can set which Data Center you will play from.

So say you are a European playing on Japanese server, you have European friends, everyone sets their DF to EU and registers for Coil. Your character is then sent to a Data Center in Europe to do the content, upon exiting you are back in the Japanese Data Center.

The positives of this is there is no mess to deal with in terms of moving character data, servers, losing FC, housing, etc. Instead Europeans will be able to play as they want on any server but when they go to DF they can register themselves to be sent to EU instances in which hypothetically the latency shouldn't be as bad for them.

That's my take on the situation, it might be a challenge to implement the code into DF but in the long term it might be better for EU to stay on the Japanese or English Servers and just give them the option to do DF in European Servers.

Why would you lose any data. All they will do is shift the EU cluster by transferring the data to a cluster that's in Europe. It will be the exact same set up except chaos will now reside in Europe.

Yes it's happen no info will be given until closer to 3.0 When FAQ will come up.

They said they are moving it so why would they stop.

I am thinking 48 hour maintenance pre 3.0 early access.

The connection speed between NA and EU data centers will be a min 100 MB like 1 GB connections. And they can transfer a lot of data that way.
Finally. If something hiccups. UE data centers will stay offline as data is moved while everyone else starts to play.

It would be extremely stupid to make new servers. When they already have a set listed as EU.

So they'll just move them into the EU properly. Maybe you might get 1 new server on each center for 3.0, but Chaos will be moved.
