After going 2 months without a single Final Coil drop, I'm thankful the stupid lockout is being removed next week.

Sure, but just because you implement a token system, that doesn't mean that everyone suddenly gets everything that they want in a week.

The problem with pure RNG is that if you're unlucky (like I am with Garuda) and the fight doesn't offer anything of value besides the drop you want (you can get the tomestones faster and safer doing other content, and the feather has an even worse drop rate than the mounts) you're basically just wasting your time. Even if it took 100 Garuda tokens to get the mount, at least I would still be steadily making progress towards my objective when I lost a roll.

When I finally get the mount (if I can bring myself to even do the fight again) I won't be going "Whoohoo I finally did it!", I'll be going "****ing finally, I don't want to do this ****ing **** ever again".

People say that RNG helps in getting experienced players to repeat content, however, when you go too far with bad drop rates, you get the opposite effects, with people not bothering with it because it's simply not worth it.

Can anyone name a single MMO or hell name a single RPG period that doesn't rely on some form of RNG for loot drops?

The issues arise cuz of the mentality that WoW created in gamers. Loot loot loot epeen epeen epeen. No more loot to gain? Next game please.

MMOs have a very very high production cost so the loot and move on to the next game mentality will bankrupt a company if things aren't slowed down enough. Also companies need to make a profit as well or they won't bother continuing support anyways.

Fortunately I have a nice social life going in FFXIV so I derive enjoyment from things other than loot and that keeps me in the game. But I guess a substantial amount of gamers do have the "Loot and move on to the next game" mentality where if they no longer have goals to work towards, they leave regardless of the social aspects that might exist in an MMORPG.

So while I am anti-RNG, I'm not oblivious to the seriously complex business decision that SE faces with this game.

This is true In 1.0, we each got our own chest at the end of the primal fights, or in open world content, we got our own key to open a chest for a chance to get gear. Anyway, we did get tokens too and that certainly did not mean everyone got everything in a week. Even with tokens it took me a good long while to accumulate all of the Ifrit weapons. ^^ The RNG effect was still there, but there was a chance you could get a token drop, and I think it was 10 of them would allow you to go to Rowena to pick a weapon of your choice. You could even pass the token to someone else in your PT if you wanted.

Personally, I no longer feel like doing Ex fights for mounts. DoH and DoL content also no longer interest me because of the grind. And so on and so forth.
More players leaving than joining, every secund player i am talking with is saying he/she will leave soon if SE does not change something on the grind.

Currently with the high patch progress (every 3 months) they are keeping most players. Those players have hope on next patch it will change, but now we have no longer 2.0 and more players are just giving up...

Some only played because waiting for Type-0 and FFXV. Hell, even loyal players are switching games!

RNG is used as a gate to slow down progression so you will keep paying for the game. For example the game devs don't want people to be able to do coil for a week get all their jobs to 130 unsub for 6 months come back and do it again.

I did the hugest RNG grind in the game the Kirin mount. Can't really talk about how bad rng is until you have done this mount. Each time you enter a DF for an EX primal you have a 10% chance at seeing the mount drop and a 1/8 chance to win the roll. So that is 10% * 1/8 = 0.01% you walk out with the mount. Now do that 6 times.

I think the RNG is fine it keeps people playing the game. Maxing out on gear in 1 week wouldn't be do fun because then have nothing to look forward to do.

I'll never understand how people jump to defend 1% drop rates on anything in this game, even 5% is really incredibly bad. Tell me again how its fair someone gets a Terra card off of the Dragon's neck first try when I've done that battle 200+ times now and still haven't gotten a card. 500+ wins on the indolent imperial and no Gaius card. The pony drop rates still barely make them worth farming because I've done Garuda 25+ times and have seen the Garuda mount once, and of course rolled an abysmally low number. Luck hasn't a thing to do with skill, its just the endless club you feel when you are done with the main content in this game and go to do anything "fun" or farm related. I'm stuck now in TT. I can't make it to be able to have a 3* deck because my only option to get to the rest of the higher tiered npc's are weeks more of farming battles for abysmally low TT card drop rates night in and night out.

If we have to have RNG in this game, for the sake of the 12, PLEASE make it smart. 100+ runs of something, make the drop rate increase 1 or 2%. I don't care, something. Its frustrating when the game works where you have to spend 5 hours a day, all week to get something someone else can get in one hour. Make an even system for everyone, not just the special RNG snowflakes, that way if luck continually screws someone over there's hope that all that time invested isn't a waste and you don't have to rely on the sun, moon, and stars aligning to get what you want out of this game.

On the flip side..I've seen much, much more people quit because they got sick of running the same content 100+ times, and people who have gotten their items quickly usually from what I've seen stay and continue playing.

MOST of thing in this game is RNG, hell if SE want, they can even add RNG when you consume food too. 20% food poison when you use food which cause negative effect and 10% chance your food drop on the ground and loss it when you eat and here we have little Charlie who loss 7/10 of his food when he try to eat it and after success there is 20% chance to have HQ effect . That is how the RNG in this game work and ppl say they are fine with that !? SERIOUSLY !?

    A little story:

Little Charlie join Dragon Neck (DF) to farm Terra Branford card, so he hope to get the drop and help some new player too (why do you think SE add that card in that shitty fight: CARRY ppl ofc), the player join the fight with Little Charlie and one of the player (8), fall out of the fight and die and get CARRY though the whole fight, but Little Charlie don't mind, he and the other 7 ppl continues & win the fight, at the end of the fight:

    Little Charlie: 0 card
Player 2: Ultros again, this is the 99 ultros I got, the player said
Player 3: silently quit the DF
Player 4: got Terra Branford card after farm for 38h
Player 5: WOW lucky, I had been in here for 200 fights already, and all I got is 10 ultros
Player 6: say thank for pt and left the DF
Player 7: say no Terra again, and left the DF
Player 8: WOW!, I got both Terra Branford & Ultros and ths is my first run !

To SE: I don't really mind your RNG but please consider add a system to improve the RNG drop so the player can progress with both luck & effort.

To the player who read though all that:

First I am sorry for my bad english ( you can bet I am not feel sorry at all). When I mention "both luck & effort", I can already see se will add something like this : run Dragon Neck 1k time to be able to buy the card from NPC and the item only drop from DF.

And do you see that player 8 ? I sure hope he get stab by the Tonberries
