The way people price items is laughable at best!

Before anyone jumps on me, its a free market and people are going to do what they want to do. (just a example) But I have to laugh every time I see a item selling well for 90k and then some one comes along and is selling the 4 of the same item for 60k and then the next guy comes along selling the same item for 40k! And before you know it the 90k item is worthless.

What I do is buy low and wait for the low ballers to go to bed and raise the price and profit when I wake up in the morning. If people could wait more then 2 seconds to sell something I would be out of business.

The best are the ones that undercut so much they undercut the "sells for" price for if you sold it to an NPC. Some say they do it to help players with little gil, but I wonder how many actually realize they are selling it for less than what a NPC would buy it for.

    Okay?

You make it sound like the people selling the item for 40k didn't get anything. They got 40k from you.

Your plan also has the problematic chance to backfire. If you were to buy up the items for the undercut price to place them at a higher price due to a self-generated monopoly, and someone were to then resupply the market once again undercutting you, your items wont be bought.

So go ahead. Most people don't mind that you make money by buying out all their items. They still get the money that they were selling the item for in the first place.

I totally understand what you're pointing out here. It annoys me like anyone else. However, there are some markets where it blows up so much that buying out all the low ballers would be more of risk in returning flipped profits. Unless you have the gil to sustain buying out some of these low baller markets, you're going to be stuck selling at lower prices just to stay competitive.

An example I see is with an Amdapor Stone I have had on the market for over 2 weeks now... I set it at 24k in the beginning and people have driven it down to 19k over two weeks... If I were to buy out every seller below my initial 24k I'd be taking a HUGE risk to get those sold at a higher markup before someone else comes along to start undercutting again.

I'm patient and tend to leave most of my initial prices set, as someone will eventually purchase the item. However, I still have some items that just become bloated and leave me no choice but to reduce my price to stay competitive. This is after all a free market.

If the item is selling good for 90k, why kill the price? If you wait more then 2 seconds your item will sell for 90k as well. And I am just using that as a example, I am not going to say what I buy and resell because everyone would be doing it.

P.S. The moral of the story is have a little patience and profit. Because it doesn't make sense to work twice as hard for the same amount of money!

If it's a item I got that didn't cost me anything to make I could sell it for 90k or 40k. I could care less what other prices are as long as someone buys it it's profit.

On the contrary, that would actually mean more people would undercut since they'd pay reduced tax fees for smaller sales.

Technically, the item was bought sooner because they priced it lower. You bought it. If they had placed it at the price that you would consider fair, it would have only been bought when an actual consumer needed it. But since they priced it low enough, it created additional demand for the item, specifically you, to buy the item quickly.
