Bots or Morons?

Anyone else notice the trend of new PvPers dying over and over again to the same GC? They are typically ranged players that run head first into the middle of Maelstrom every single time they respawn.

I watch these players die at least 5 times a match. Sometimes it’s in the double digits. It would be a lot more if I bothered to rez them anymore.

One Bard in particular this weekend would take the ramp every single Slaughter match (never the jump). He would fall off the ramp and go to about ¼ life before anyone even threw the first punch, then come back up the ramp, run left to flames across the melee death zone, then run straight into Maelstrom while completely ignoring the first node. I watched him die dozens of times this weekend with the same path.

They never run to an outside node. They just continue dying in the middle against whatever GC stayed behind. They hardly ever respond in party chat, and it's never anything substantial.

I do not want to vote kick people. Everyone has a right to learn. But this is getting ridiculous. It's starting to cost my GC a lot of matches.

You can't heal stupid. I have dragoons, tanks, and fevered BLM's to heal. The Bard that insists on tanking 20 Maelstrom players is just a waste of MP.

Back when we had 72 man secure mode, I noticed a maelstrom person running right up to the flag at manors by themselves while a team of 8 of us was there guarding it. After we killed them we were like wow what an idiot. Then later in the game after we killed off their other 7 party members, this one respawned on their own and did it again. I got their name and told a maelstrom person on my server about it (someone that used to post here but I don't see them now) and they said they were a suspected botter, never say anything and always do that. Now that Secure mode pops as 24 and Slaughter gets the fast queues and large number of people (even though it sucks), if someone was going to bot their character for PVP exp and WM's that would be the place they'd pick.

If someone is botting in Slaughter it seems like they'd want to die fast as possible so it's not as obvious I guess. And since a Bard does less damage up close vs at range... either you've found a botter, or the single worst player in Frontlines.

Happened to me today, but he wasn't a bot for sure, he was a Dragoon that was ALWAYS under the Mael lines, so I had to go mid or among the mael group (I'm an Adder) to heal him, but even wasting 3 lustrate it was impossible to hel him.
First I said him to don't go alone so deep in the enemies party, after I have to admit that I freaked out a little.

Lmao i've seen this too can't remember if it was back when I was a flame or mael but this Dragoon came jumping in the middle of us and then got destroyed. I was like what was that.

I think theyre bots. I remember seeing a flame bard continually running past on a chocobo from your guys ramp diagonally in front of the storm ramp then jump off and repeat.

We have a well known mael botter on primal data center lets just call him K, he usually just saunters off towards the flame op (used to itself stuck on the poles near the entrance of the spawn all the time and stay there) He was actually at the computer the other day though I was surprised.

Oh yeah, my linkshell has had to deal with K a lot. At one point he even said something and it freaked everyone out.

Yes. I've noticed them of late. I've seen Maelstrom WHM & British running immediately into the centre of Flames and spamming their lowest damage value spell/skill until killed. They then respawn (or are revived) and repeat until the end of the game.

I'm familiar with some of the initials being used by other posters and think we may be talking about the same players. One, mentioned above, stays in AFK (chair symbol) throughout the match and follows a very predictable routine. They too die repeatedly.

It's not just bad playing, there's something decidedly fishy going on.
