Feast of Famine - Condition Verification

I recently came back to this game, and one of the first things I noticed (Much to my dismay) was a new fisher quest. Despite my better judgement, I decided I just had to complete Feast of Famine, and made it a priority, so much so that my Fishing Rod was my first Lucis get (I should have gone for GSM or Miner first).

I am, however, having some problems finishing this quest. I've spent well over 8 hours fishing for the required fish, and I have so far gotten four bites (3 Neptos [One Get] and 1 Namitaro [Escaped]). I have been unable to complete even a single Canavan chain, and I haven't even seen a Clear>Blizzard in Coerthas.

Before I continued, I just wanted to verify that the information I'm working on is accurate, and that its just RNG dicking with me, not a Google-Fu error on my part.

Here's my Gear/Stats (Maxed, as far as I know):

And here's the collected data I've been working on:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

The above sheet is open to edits. Please feel free to correct it.

So, is the information I'm working on accurate, or have I been burning time? I'm also open to any suggestions.

    Thank you!

UPDATE: Up to Five bites, losing another Namitaro.

Also, I did have to eat food to get the Nepto, and I'm eating it for the Shonisaurus (HQ Spinach Quiche, which is probably a bit much, but I have a bunch of it so why not).

    Some specific questions:

Am I using the best bait for the fishes?
Can I fish up a mooch chain before a weather/time condition, and sit on it until those conditions are met, or is the cast results tallied upon getting the fish, not when you recast?

    RNG.

Though I'm pretty sure to catch HQ Mahar for Shonisaurus you need at least 320 perception. And Nepto with gathering 403, but if you have caught it with 401 without food/fc buffs, I guess that's it then?

I'm gonna use this thread so I don't need to make one. Can anyone explain me how the weather transition works? Do we need to fish the mooching fish on the first weather and then mooch it when it moves to the transitioned weather or we simple need that weather combo and fish it on the last weather?

You fish on the second weather pattern. So, for example, a Mahar (Which is mooched to get a Shonisaurus) can only be caught during a Blizzard, but only if that Blizzard was preceded by clear weather.

The first weather pattern is useless to you, besides the fact that it has to be there.

Only need weather combo and fish it on the last weather. You can prepare your mooch before the combo happened, then start fishing the moment the weather changed.

As to the best bait, look up the fishing hole on this site:

    http://na.ff14angler.com/

I use this site for the fish availability:

    http://ffxivfisher.appspot.com/?

You can hold a mooch until your target fish is available.

This was all taken from xivdb.com someone posted up some nice info on there regarding fishing these fish up.

    Endoceras
Western La Noscea- Isles of Umbra Southshore

    Gathering- 397+
    Weather- Thunder or Thunderstorms
    Time- Any
Bait- Topwater Frog while Fisher's Intuition is active
Note: Use Glowworms for the Giant Takitaro then switch to Topwater Frog and be quick about it, you only get 2~ casts.

NOTE: Best possible window to catch it is with a 8am-4pm heatwave following Fog. The Fog into Heatwave during daytime is uncommon and sometimes spread out days apart. Overcast into Heatwave might also work but have never seen Overcast->Heatwave during daytime.

I have actually lost count of the number of Namitaros I've lost at 425 gathering. It's honestly becoming heartbreaking at this point. Must be well into the 50s or 60s now.

    They just won't. Stay. Hooked.

EDIT: Finally caught the jerk, then went out and got Shonisaurus on my very first try. Llymlaen truly is a spiteful deity.

Your info seems to be correct that you are using. These fish are an abosolute pain to catch sometimes, some having a very high escape rate, some having an intuition buff that's very difficult to get as well. I think i had to go through 8 thunderstorms/thunder weathers to get the South Shroud fish, and am curently sitting at 15-20 window attempts at kuno the killer (last one for me to get). Perseverance is the key to get these fish. Best of luck to you .
