As the game has progressed from 2.0-2.55, the initial intention of multiclassing has been overlooked. Content such as relic weapons, tomestone caps, and weekly loot caps have enforced a single class restriction. Playing multiple classes at once would weaken your character as you would need to split equipment between roles, taking longer to equip multiple classes, while playing a single class allows your character to excel in a single role at the expense of the ability to change that role and still maintain effectiveness. As development moves forward, will playing multiple classes be rewarded in any way, or will it continue to be the case that every character should play only a single class in order to be effective?
