Check if UPNP is active on the router... has been known to cause problems in the past. There also should be no need for any kind of port-forwarding under the typical home setup if you are using it. NAT should manage port direction just fine, as well as the stateful inspection in the router's firewall. You should only need to set up port forwarding for perimeter security like you may find in a business or college campus, but even then it may not be necessary depending on their security model.

Also, may want to toggle off IPV6 as well if it is active. It may clean things up a bit as well...some people have had strange issues with it active with some routers when hitting services stil using only IPV4.

As stated earlier, there have been issues in the past with pushed updates to network devices. ISP's have borked modems/routers in the past. Belkin borked entire lines of routers last year with a glitch in their automated firmware update system. Time Warner recently had problems with customer owned modems basically spamming for new DHCP leases HOURLY because they knackered up the config files that were sent to them during appropriation and lease renewals.

So.. it could in fact be something linked to something going on with your router/modem configuration, so you may want to go through their logs and signal pages to see if you can spot anything out of sorts there.
