How to make a fool of yourself in one Titan run..

When I first started leveling my healers I always forgot to take Cleric stance off when I put it on~ XDD One Haukke Manor, I struggled the whole dungeon before realizing the reason I was having trouble healing was CS. No one died but.. ;___;

Last boss of Snowcloak on Drg, thought I'd show off by using Elusive Jump to duck behind the icicle at the last second. I pulled that off fine, the problem was when I Spineshatter Dive'd back to Fenrir too early and ended up freezing myself midjump, 50 feet in the air. Fenrir chomped me and the icicle explosion finished me off.

Saddest part is I have done this more than once.

I wouldn't worry too much - most people won't even remember after an hour (or less). The upside is that you recognize what happened and can adjust accordingly It was probably just some rust to shake off. xD I've done plenty of making a fool of myself... and I haven't stopped playing since game open, or hand injury. I'd have good days, terribly derpy nub days and then days where I'll do good and then apparently use up all my skill for the rest of the day (raid fatigue...? lol).


*roulette dungeon loads, tank speeds off and obviously starting a big pull* "Oooo yay, a speed run, fun timez nao " (they're fun to me, though I don't care about pace. Just adds challenge). Shit starts hitting the fan. Better turn on Cleric and spam Cure II while wondering 'why??'. Also time to waste Divine Seal on gimped cures! herpaderp! z_z
To be fair, I had started to Holy and double-hit cleric (effectively turning it off and on again). Well, no one died, at least?

I've also done less bad but still silly looking things between pulls. Went into ST, and instead of Protect and SC + SSII while the alliances were gathering at the start of the next boss, I pretty much hit everything but. And no discernable reason why. "Okay, everyone's here and a few got raised. Need Protect and SS. *Hits Regen* wat *Hits Bene* WHat are you- *starts casting Medica, but step cancels* *Jackie Chan meme face at own fingers/keyboard*"
Yeah, no idea. It's like I had a several second mental spasm. I pretty much hit almost everything that had a person silloutte in the skill icon o_Oa
Even knowing I was hitting the wrong crap.

Ultima HM, on Bard. I started explaining the mechanics to several newbies in the party. I went to add one last bit of additional information and...... didn't hit Enter on my keyboard before I started typing that last piece of info. A dozen windows popped up and I was set to auto-run ('R') while no one was ready. Bard facepull on Ultima.

LoTA - had semi solo healed ST and WoD all very nicely, then did WoD a second time with only really one oops with switching color debuffs (too far to reach in time x.x), then went into LoTA. And crashed like a newb. Died in Bone Dragon to a damage wave. Died in Behemoth (to be fair, everyone behind my comet died. I guess it broke right before), died to Daybreak on last boss right on the barrier. I guess I was broken after the second WoD. It was just noob mistake after noob mistake.

Odin trial on Bard..... DPSing hard with all my procs and cooldowns and Off Cool Downs and anything that poked a lil damage if I could fit it in. Brain didn't register that Shadow Bind doesn't actually do any damage (unlike Blunt Arrow) -.- Keep wasting the second to use it, thinking I'm adding damage and probably looking stupid.

I have two stories..

Grinding for zodiac, I got Halatai HM. Tank was well geared, dps was good, and it was early in the evening so I was awake as can be. I've healed plenty of speed runs, so I figured it should be easy. Tank went for the large pull and I figured I'd be helpful and help with shadow flare as I usually do. Sadly, I somehow forgot to hit my cleric stance/hotbar swap macro, so I instead used swiftcast -> sacred soil -> cleric stance -> somehow burnt swift on something dumb -> slow shadowflare -> canceled and tried to swap out to adlo tank -> wipe.

I apologized and tried to shake it off.. Tank went a bit slower and my heal/dps dancing was going somewhat poorly but not too dangerously. Tank decided to go for another larger pull and I proceeded to do the same damn derp, except managing to lustrate the tank to keep him up, and eating the dirt again myself (from an aoe maybe?). I was quite upset with myself at that point, so I told them they should votekick my ass and get a decent healer.. the tank said something along the lines of "don't worry about dpsing bro, it's ok to just heal." I wanted to crawl into a hole and die, but I am glad he was so nice about it. ;_;

Then last night, Stone Vigil hard.. I have fallen asleep in that dungeon and still managed to heal through it at least twice. We had a paladin tank with Zenith, i100 left side, and a mix of i49-i80 tank accessories on the right.. should be good. Both dps were decently geared blackmages. Good attitudes all around. And yet.. somehow, we just utterly failed at the first half of the dungeon.

The tank only took one group at a time, so I figured I should easily be able to dps with Eos healing, plus have enough time to drop stance if I needed to help heal. He took a lot more damage than expected, but it was mostly manageable. I think we wiped to one of the first.. or at least had several close calls. First boss, my friend blm was killing adds but the other blm ignored them.. no biggie, I figured. Towards the end, I was tanking 3 adds while my friend was dealing with a fourth.. when suddenly I had 3 dots, saw my hp drop to 25%, then die a tick later. The adds immediately steamrolled my friend, but then the boss died and all was well. I released just as the tank offers to raise, then took the shortcut.. saw a hallway.. figured I was before the boss room.. charged ahead. I immediately turned around and came running out into the boss room, dragging the next pull with me. ;_;

We cleared that fine, but shortly after, somehow the tank took a critical shot and dropped.. right after I had did a swiftcast+shadowflare. I got out of cleric stance and tried to heal one of the blms, just to have him die midcast. Switched to the other and threw lustrate, but he quickly followed the first. Stubbornly, I decided to try to heal myself through it since I wasn't too far from the shortcut point.. but the group decided to wait for me to die/release. I gave quite the valiant effort of adlo/lustrate, but, just as they came for me, I took a critical hit and dropped. I promised to stay out of cleric for the rest of the run, and other than the one blm getting smacked around a bit by the final boss, it ended smoothly.

kinda weird that you didn't notice it yourself that you're a conjurer. how can you not realize that you can't use regen & medica II?

Man, don't even worry. Everyone's had those herpaderp moments. Here's a few of mine:

Myself and some friends were having a fun random night - we do random trials on random jobs in the duty finder. We ended up in Ultima HM with 4 dragoons as our DPS. I'd been drinking quite a bit that night and hadn't played dragoon in awhile; since that time, I'd remapped some of my keys including my push to talk for VoIP. After said remapping, my Jump key just happened to be the same as my push to talk key... Dragoon jump facepull.

My first time getting to Heavensfall, we had a more experienced person with us that was helping out since we'd never made it past the golems before. At Heavensfall, he said "everyone stack on A". I had only watched a guide a few times and I was sort of nervous, so I took him literally and stacked on top of the party as main tank. Needless to say, that was a very very short foray into that phase of T9! I think my party was equal parts amused and unhappy.

I've pulled in T5, T9, and T13 without Shield Oath... I've also tried to use Infuriate as a Paladin a few times now.

There's been a few times where I've accidentally selected a mob instead of the tank. Tank gets critically low on HP, I hit the key for Lustrate... and spam Lustrate on myself as the tank dies, followed by the rest of the party. >.<

I just made the utmost fool of myself, and I feel so stupid. First of all, I have not played the game since 2013 and have only been to Titan a few times on my bard. I was the healer (WHM) and on first attempt, totally screwed up and was in cleric stance by mistake. 2 more tries later, we beat Titan and then one of my party members notices that I was not a WHM, I forgot to equip my stone. I healed the Titan fight on a conjurer. Sigh. No comms for the healer this time.

Before this fight I did just fine as healer, but I think I was so nervous I just totally did not prepare myself. Anyone else have stupid dungeon stories like this?

Hey at least you tried, I cannot say as much since I have yet to do Titan.

I healed my very first level 50 dungeon in Cleric Stance. I think the tank thought I was a little special because he pulled really small. No one bothered to tell me and I was so nervous I didn't even look. I remember thinking that it was crazy hard to heal through and I contemplated not playing healer ever again.

And then when I left the dungeon I noticed and I felt like a flipping idiot. Thankfully after a year I finally got (kind of) better... I think.

Hey, I'm pretty guilty of some stupid stuff...
For example, I was running Temple of Qarn (Hard) as a WHM. By this time, I was pretty familiar with the place, and I was very confident in my abilities. We get to the first pull, and I realize something horrible. I had the wrong hotbar open. I was spamming virus instead of cure 2. The tank promptly died, and I felt like a failure. The tank then proceeded to pull the smallest amount of mobs ever. I was way too embarrassed to tell him I could handle it, seeing as to how I was so scrub earlier.
It didn't help I got a massive lag spike in the middle of the dungeon...
That said, I've avoided Temple of Qarn ever since.

I too did some stupid stuff... :s
In a dungeon i was to pose to be tanking (PLD) but all i did was to fight one target and flash twice, then one of the members asked me that i needed to use shield oath and needed to go aggro.
I assumed shield oath was a translation error and aggro was an emotion, so i started spamming shield lob...and using the furious emotion (I felt really stupid XD), they laughed at me and started ranting towards me then they just kicked me out, leaving hateful comments ._. At the time i felt really depressed and lost hope.... But i never gave up, so i think i'm pretty good plus i get great compliments now :3
