Fc is a community you join with certain boni that can be activated (like increased fighting XP or crafting XP reduced gear wear,....), ranks that give you rights for housing/invitations to the FC and activating those boni. Besides that you can set a personal message that only FC mates can see. You can only be in 1 FC at a time.

Linkshells are pure chat channels the "Master" can assign also here certain persons a "leader" so they can invite and kick but thats it. You can have up to 8 Linkshells.

Common is to be in a FC with your closest friend or raidgroup and have the linkshells for all other purposes like helping each other, chatting cross FCish, Hunting, trading,....

Thank you for the invite! I just hit 50 today on BLM, so I'm going to be looking for a place to call home soon. I've always gotten the most enjoyment from endgame playing so I want to find a group that's willing to teach me the fights (not speed run me through it and explain nothing, I don't want to hit that plateau anytime soon.) The game is fresh to me and I like that, and the instanced and auto-rolled party events makes things a bit more casual which I also find refreshing since I'm kind of on my own right now.

Yeah of course! Our group is known for flinging new players at content they haven't done and haven't watched a video for, while we walk them through it. In my opinion, it's a much more meaningful experience than "okay go stand over there and watch us, and when you die, try not to take anyone with you." We're always looking for people that fit in well with the group!
