Gauging Interest in a Dungeon Resource Shell

    Dungeon Knights Linkshell

Purpose: The current purpose of Dungeon Knights is to use the shell as a resource player pool to run the R45 dungeon and possibly future dungeons.

But I already have a static or main that runs this…

Good for you, the purpose of this shell is not to deter anyone from their static or main, but to socialize with players that may be outside of one’s LS should a person’s static or main not have enough players to enter a dungeon during their scheduled event. This aim is to make this the “go-to” shell for a quick and reliable pickup of a player to fill an empty slot without looking or waiting around as much as many already have to. Wins are never guaranteed but the participation or frequency of actually running the dungeon should increase while participating with this shell. OPTIONS people...options.

Note: Your priority should always be to your main shell so don’t get yourself in trouble with this shell because YOU forgot YOUR priority!

How do I become a Dungeon Knight?

One Requirement: Must Have Beaten Batraal

Well that is just another exclusivity to count someone out…

Yes and no… Because many people have already run in a shell to do the above one may not join Dungeon Knights shell unless they have the Lodestone or ffxivpads achievement for Batraal win. However, guests are always free to come or be in a party in order to get their Batraal kill for acceptance into the shell and build upon the future help of the shell as a resourceful pool of active players.

Sounds ok so far, how do we start a group and ask the shell for help should we need to?

The minimum recommended spots to fill before you ask for players in Dungeon Knights LS is 5 players (meaning you already have 5 players in your party). In other words, if you have 2 people in your party for a dungeon and you want to run it at 5 PM on a weekday, you can’t ask the shell. Anyone caught doing so may be sent a link to this url regarding the official rules of how this shell works. Due to chat fodder of people that already have multiple linkshells I would prefer people to keep chat in this shell to a minimum. Once a few members respond to an interested party the rest can be settled or sorted via /tells.

Ok…so what exactly are the rule of DK?

Just a few that should go without saying:

    Linkshell Etiquette:

Dungeon Disconnects: Should a player disconnect 2x (2 times) from a dungeon PT run the option is open to replace them. We know it is not anyone's fault on a d/c should one occur, but we don't want to waste anyone else's time in the PT more than they have 2.

Loot Rules/Item Drops: in order to build a more successful rule system in place for those helping others I had to think about a few things. Many games allow players to roll need or greed or want so I have developed the following system to let all party members understand the future mechanics of how we as Trabia players can sort drops quickly and effectively.

In Party Chat one may type 5 of the following commands (in order of priorty):

Item Name {auto-translated} if dropped by member that notices drop:

    LOOT SYTEM

    1. NEED – You are level 50 for the item required, you can wear the item on your MAIN Priority JOB….that you are also currently playing in the dungeon. You can equip and wear item immediately.

    2. GREED – You are LVL 50 for the Item required and can wear it.

    3. WANT - You simply “want” or would like to have the item if the above 2 criteria
are not met by a player.

    4. PASS – You have or you are a nice guy and don’t care for the item

Drama – 2 or more players NEED – as long as item is passed to 1 of them, that’s one less player that will NEED it next time, no whining. If you didn’t get the item and NEEDED it and someone else got it given to them be a good sport about it. Thanks. I hope an individual’s game and participation overcomes someone’s desire for some loot drop in a silly dungeon.

Though any player or group of players may “ninja” or loot-hoard an item/items (which will get you remembered next time anyone runs) I hope this does not create unnecessary drama for anyone (which guess what-will get you remembered…or should I say forgotten even more)

NOTE: Whoever is forming/inviting others into a Dungeon Knights Party please be smart about jobs you choose/etc. The goal is to do a full run for all except the speed chest. Though it would be dreamy to eventually get enough players to be so capable to do a speed run on whim, this is simply not the reality at the moment. Yet if you want to do a speed run and need to fill 1 spot, make sure you send a /tell or announce in LS your intention or attempt.

Ventrilo invitations: Player etiquette is expected should a guest be invited into another shell’s Ventrilo, other than the small rules listed above one is expected to follow the Vent of the group you are invited into as well as how they run the dungeon. You can enter suggestions as I have seen people do different approaches but refrain from combative responses and play when in the attendance of others. Personally, I’d almost prefer anyone joining a Linkshell’s Ventrilo for the 1st time to not even use the mic and just listen to commands of the people running to ensure a positive experience should you become trusted enough to be invited. Remember, you are in the house of another LS so courteous play is always a good thing. Please also be mature and use discretion and observe the privacy of other shells, failure to do so can and will result in an automatic removal from dungeon knights LS as well as damage your server reputation.

    Dungeon Knight / Dungeon Runs

This shell does runs of its own?

At the moment this is a test as the shell we will see if the shell builds enough to actually do a run of its own and to see if it has the promise of a running dungeon shell of actual reliable scheduled times for interested players. Think of this as a dynamis ffxi type shell for the current R45 dungeon content.

For now the shell has only 1 date/time listed but this may grow on a more permanent and static basis should it grow and mature into a viable shell for the people of Trabia.

    Friday September 2nd, 2011 - 10:00 P.M. EST
DK Meets at: THM Guild (Uldah) for party formations/teleports

refresh me with a a little reprint of some of the rules here:

Timeout Rule/Procedure: If a PT is not formed with at least 5 within 30 minutes of scheduled time…a player may decide to leave if they wish to do so with no condemnations, this shell is not meant to waste anyone’s time in a PT seeking others. If a PT only has 4 people within 30 minutes of scheduled time, you are not permitted to ask in Dungeon Knights for members.

Eventually, perhaps a tentative schedule that may occur by September 12, 2011 should enough people be interested present itself:

    Possible Future Tentaive Schedule
DK Meets at: THM Guild (Uldah) for teleports -

    4:30 PM EST / 8 PM EST / 11 PM EST Daily

    12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM Weekends (Eastern Standard Time)

    • I apologize as I did not convert the times to GMT nor do I plan to atm since this is but a tentative future schedule
    • This is the scheduled times for forming parties though anyone may pop in Linkshell to fill some empty roster spots whenever necessary
    • Again…the minimum recommended spots to fill before you ask for players in Dungeon Knights LS is 5 players (meaning you already have 5 players in your party). Once a few members respond to an interested party the rest can be settle in /tells. Anyone caught just chatting extensively in dungeon knights may be sent the same URL.

During the scheduled times you will list your job or jobs (lvl 50 required) and your willingness to participate. Don’t chat up this linkshell with nonsense, reserve that for “party” chat for the group you are invited to.

    Scheduled Time Example

Example 1- Name of Player: 50 THM / CON / ARC LFG

Example 2 – Name of Player: 50 LNC LFG

    Unscheduled TIME example:

Example 1 - Name of Player: Need 2 for dungeon

Example 2 – Name of Player: Need mage for R45

Sounds great Supa, how do I get a pearl?

Simply send me a /tell in game should you see me or respond here in the forums for your pearl when I get online.

Thanks for the well wishes as well as those partcipating.

Well we are 1/1 with the attempts with this shell. Thanks to those that came out yesterday.

Congratulations to Lardinho Carbuncle on being the only 1 not beating Batraal but still allowed in the party to earn his kill. Congratz to another for attaining their last quest win. All done in 1 run no wipes. Happy days!

Honestly for no ventrilo or anything it was a decent run...could have had better luck with drops, silly dark matter in Boss chest.

Will see if enough are on and what the job setup looks like within 30 minutes of 10 PM tonight for a hopeful 2/2 otherwise its a no go due to not wasting people's time.

If someone in the shell with a decent connection (more than 1mbps upload) they can download the Teamspeak 3 server package and offer a 32-person server hosted on the same computer (Windows Home Server works too).
