I never played WOW but WOW was and still is very successful. The fact that the crfeator plans to compete and model the game after WOW- makes me feel hopeful for the game. I personally think we need more PVP options and a duel mode so you can fight other players i nthe open world for achievement points/ just for fun.

yoshi-P even said this game is a copy of WoW. WoW was his favorite MMO. He wanted to introduce it to Japanese players. Basically, Yoshi-P's entire plan was to use FFXIV as a huge advertisement for World of Warcraft. /shrug

I was one of the last of all my many friends to keep playing it especially after server closings, level cap removals, increased running speeds to make the world feel smaller, trivializing leveling, etc. I'm sorry, but the game just isn't what it used to be.

It's time to focus on new projects, like FFXIV for example.

Supposedly the two cellphone apps they're working on for XI's continuation are just that - a single player client as well as a multiplayer based lobby to adventure into Vana'diel with. I'm curious to see more about these.

i read somewhere they are porting XI to mobile devices where you can do stuff together with friends on a small scale in the world of Vana'diel, not MMORPG scale though.

one of the announcements they made was they are working with NEXON to make a full port of FFXI to mobile devices. if you head over to the playonline website and look for he announcement from the producer he mentions it.

I think it's safe to say FFXI will be sticking around for a while longer atleast. I don't think they would work on a mobile port of the full game if they were just going to drop it not long after stopping PS2/xb360 support

For me FFXI stop been FFXI when the shattonto add-ons started and finally with abbysea. After that it began the 75-99 just level and at 99 you can start enjoy the content and even at 99 you needed to get some gear solo to actually do end-game effective.

I'm with you on this, because it's exactly how I feel about XI. I loved the game, it was my first and favorite mmo, but I much rather remember it the way it was than try to play through what it's become.
