Please make it Free-to-play! It could boost up some people in the game.
It's better than shutting the servers down completely but I think F2P with CS
and bla bla would probably help. I'd try it if it's F2P.

What made ffXI so unique and different from ff14? I looked at ff11 website and looks like alot of the stuff fromf ff11 are in ff14 and a imagine future jobs coming for ff14 will be modeled after ff11 jobs.
i read somewhere they are porting XI to mobile devices where you can do stuff together with friends on a small scale in the world of Vana'diel, not MMORPG scale though.
In the Japanese market mobile games are huge. PSVita, Nintendo DS, huuuuge in Japan. Mobile devices today are as powerful as pc's were 8-12 years ago. I look forward to see how this mobile version of vanadiel will turn out.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is another huge game in Japan that has a PC version that cross platforms with a PS Vita version and theres also a smart phone version of the game thats stand alone more or less a single player version of the game.
A petition isn't going to help.. MMOs need renevue to run, so the best way to "vote" for one's continuation is to make sure there are lots of players still paying for it.. If you no longer have that, of course expansions will stop.
For one, the 22 jobs it had were completely unique to each other. No one job was alike to the one next to it, they all had different roles and responsibilities. In this game, all the jobs play the exact same way. 1-2-3 and a dot and you're good. The secondary thing is that you leveled and that it wasn't known as the tutorial, it was the game. Leveling and the game went hand in hand. So you didn't just level to the cap and then begin to play the game, there were things to do at every level. This game? 1-50 = glorified tutorial where everything happens after 50.
Gear. You get sets in this game and then in 6 months, you get a completely new one, dumping your old one at the GC.
In XI, you get tons of equipment that you were supposed to use for specific things and macro change out. Basically, when you went WHM to something, your only gear on you would be your various WHM gear sets.
The lore is...really really involved and expanded in that game. FFXIV is just getting started but even so, the lore in this game isn't nearly as deep as XI in my opinion. It uses other FF games to pull people into things for easy bang and buck. Like the raid towers... In XI, those are original concepts fueled by original bosses and mobs. In XIV, it's the original FFs.
XI peeps think that this game is a copy of WoW in a lot of ways. I agree with them on those points.
And XI still does have people paying for it. The content is stopping so that the company can better focus its assets elsewhere and stop being so divided. I'm guess that they decided that they finally wanted to pull the rest into XIV and give it their all.
yoshi-P even said this game is a copy of WoW. WoW was his favorite MMO. He wanted to introduce it to Japanese players. Basically, Yoshi-P's entire plan was to use FFXIV as a huge advertisement for World of Warcraft. /shrug
But many more of us don't like what SE did with XI in these later years and no longer wish to play it and prefer it to let it end in peace. I was one of the last of all my many friends to keep playing it especially after server closings, level cap removals, increased running speeds to make the world feel smaller, trivializing leveling, etc. I'm sorry, but the game just isn't what it used to be.
It's time to focus on new projects, like FFXIV for example.

This quote and also maybe I would play XI again it they had a dual sub for XI/XIV but I dropped XI when XIV came out cause couldn't afford nor was going to be 2 different subscriptions.
Thank for the explanation. ff11 did have a lot of jobs... IMO seems a bit overwhelming reminds of ffX-2 with the dress-spheres..yea its options but many of the jobs were not very effective- dark knight was the strongest..I just got all 3 characters to high level dark knight and the game was a breeze.
If they are indeed moving more resources to ff14 than I'm all for it.
No.
I still remember a lot of FFXI players that came to FFXIV and criticize the game for not being FFXI-2.
I don't feel a tad bit sorry if FFXI gets shutdown.
