You don't have to scroll through 146 pages, I have a list of suggestions at the bottom of the OP that have been accumulated from the entire thread, as I know no one would read through all that. Not sure if this as been mentioned before, not gonna scroll through 146 pages of content to find out but here's an easy fix in my opinion:
Players with the "NEW PLAYER STATUS" shouldn't be able to SEND friend requests. They can receive them, and if they are received they can THEN send tells to that person.
Players with the "NEW PLAYER STATUS" shouldn't be able to SEND tells, UNLESS they are on that person's friends list. There is no need, they can chat in say or party chat. Or in FC if they join one.
In the two weeks since I started playing my blacklist is almost full already.
Getting really annoying.
With the new Humble Bundle that has ARR for a little over $4 expect massive waves of RMT.

My theory is that SquareEnix WANTS the RMT spam to annoy you so you report the tell-spammer so SE can ban them and the spammer buys another sub. My suggestion: NEVER report the tell spammers, it's a waste of time. GL getting SE to implement any kind of filtering system.. it would oh cause them to.lose a ton of revenue... And cancelling subs won't work considering if my theory is correct... it would take a mass e,modus roof approximately 40% of their customer base to make it lucrative for them to implement a filtering system for incoming tells...
I stopped reporting long, long ago. Too long of a process and the /tells came in too often. It's so cumbersome I would find myself reporting more often than playing the game. If they had a right click report option however, it would have been a different story. Still not sure why they haven't implemented this simple feature. My theory is that SquareEnix WANTS the RMT spam to annoy you so you report the tell-spammer so SE can ban them and the spammer buys another sub. Then SE turns around and spams you with reply notifications... such a beautiful system.I stopped reporting long, long ago. Too long of a process and the /tells came in too often. Until the subs that run on stolen info suffers a charge back, then that costs money
I've been looking for this thread. I've been getting RMT tells again recently, haven't had those in a long time. Not a good direction to be going in.....
Like I said... don"t expect SE to do anything about it... they generate too much revenue from the subs that the spammers buy and care not one bit whether it was from stolen CC data or not.. I started my own thread about filters for incoming tells... but it will never be implemented because SquareEnix only believes in patronising their customers with sugar-coated apologies. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and thank you for your understanding." feels like someone saying they\\\\'re sorry after hitting you in the kneecap with a sledgehammer at times... and SE has been that way for YEARS... If they put 1/10 the effort into adding chat filters for incoming tells that they do into saying how sorry they are... spammers wouldn\\\\'t bean issue... The only thing about their templated apology is that they are sorry... a sorry excuse for customer support... people want action about this issue and talk is cheap...
Likewise, The RMT spam I've been getting as of late is much more than normal.. I suppose they have to since its the holidays. I wish there was just a better way to handle all this.. I have tried everything but the constant tells make the game less enjoyable. Personally, I wish there was some way to filter the tells so that I could send the RMT spam to one tab but keep the legit tells.
