Thanks, but I'd rather you implement some countermeasures against RMT /tell activity, like the ability to report it simply and directly from the chat line (like we've been requesting since the game launched). That's still the far bigger problem.

Still, I guess it's nice to hear at least some minor bit of the issue acknowledged.

What good does it do though? You don't get rid of anyone useful if they just squash the bug that appears out of nowhere, you have to find out where the nest is. RMT have to be lulled into a false sense of security to be taken out, to make it to difficult for them to proceed forward however if you just become more and more aggressive towards banning pawns all you do is ban pawns, you don't ban where it hurts, the ones holding the gil.

That's why the feature is kinda pointless, there is already a way to report RMT through support and quite honestly it should be enough, let them know the name and they go from there but quite honestly, do you really think it leaves a good impression when a simple right click would have the option "Report RMT". Consider that for a second and understand why the report function should remain through the support section and not become a part of the right click options when you select a persons name.

Wat. Making it difficult to report means LESS people bother with reporting. Making it as easy as "right click-report" means far more people will take the time to report problem characters/accounts.

As for your "false sense of security" strangeness - is that what SE's been doing for the past 3 years? I'd say that whatever sense of security the RMTers have, it is far from false at this point.

Thanks for listening and keeping us posted! Any countermeasures, no matter how small, will still be much appreciated.

Thank you so much. I would rather not have to play with busy on all the time.

The Problem isn't with Friend invites, at least not on Famfrit. I haven't been Friend spammed in over 6 months or received a random friend invite from a gold spammer. It is actual whisper spam that is the problem. The friend limitation will accomplish nothing besides encouraging people to be far more selective in who they send a friend request to and will be highly damaging to forming new statics.

A limit of 5 Friend requests a day

7 people or more to add to friends list from joining an endgame (or any other) Static (or any other non linkshell group).

This is not going to work.

Its a Logistics nightmare of determining who invites who without breaking cap.

Might I instead suggest limiting the amount of whispers/shouts/yells/say sent per minute?

There is a difference between how fast a person can type verses robotic paste and spam. If you limit the Whispers/Say/shout per minute it should reduce the overall RMT Spam. No Human is sending 60 tells to 60 different people in a minute. We can start there. If they do hit the cap then a minute cooldown or even 30 sec cool down on sending is going to reduce the RMT spam exponentially. Even if the spammers to reduce the speed of their spam to compensate, it is still a large reduction in RMT spam.

Thank you. And I really would like to thank the OP for creating this formal letter along with the signatures and how well they stated the problem.

There's 64 servers. We don't know exactly how many GMs are on staff/hired by SE in total. We do know that 3 of the staff (the STF) deal with all the RMT reports. If SE really wanted to hammer down on the RMT problem they could hire 192 GMs (3 per server) to specifically handle the RMT situation and nip it in the butt before it begins. Where a GM monitors all 3 city states on their server in shifts and insta-ban all the RMTs that are instantly popping up at the Adventure Guild counter then vanishing into thin air only to repop again there instantly to progress in their quests. But still that's a lot of work to do, and requires a lot of manpower, the simpler solution is what everyone has been asking on here to report RMTs.
Add a feature to the right click and make it "Report RMT". Right click on targeted character, select Report RMT, and it sends a report that includes targets name, a <flag> for the location, a time stamp, and the server you are on. All the things that are filled out in the normal report, save the 'action' they are doing but it's obvious if they are reported as RMT they are "teleport hacking, map hacking, etc." which can be viewed in the data log when they go inspect the time and location of that character(s). That would be much easier and more effective to report because let's face it, marking each individual RMT with 1/2/3/4/X/O as they are doing Goku's Instant Transmission so you can have their names in your chat log, can be quite time consuming since you are most of time reporting 5-10+ characters and most people don't want to bother with that. RMT's aren't just single individuals they move in packs. The only single RMTs are the ones that stand in the middle of town and spam in /say or /tell to visit their websites. Those can be easily blacklisted and ignored.

Speaking of hiring as a GM for tracking down RMT, I know I'd gladly take up that job. Be more enjoyable than the job I currently do at home answering Comcast questions lol. However I do admit I don't see how they can expect 3 people to handle that many servers.
