Formal Letter to SE about RMT situation.

Now, I am reality away from saying Square is right in their approach, but in all likelihood, they don't want to make any promises they might have to go back on. Not to mention any possible legal issues that might surround it for whatever reason. You know how reactive gamers can be.
If it is being addressed, we probably won't hear about it until it's already happening. I can't see it as cowardly as much as cautious.

Would cost them nothing except get them some goodwill if someone with some importance came to the forums to say, "We understand we have a problem, we are moving resources to fix the problem, we can't tell you what that is because it will hurt the process but we care about this issue and will keep trying new things until it is resolved, we appreciate your patience and thank you for your patronage"

Now if they have no intention of working on this because they are benefiting in some way from this, it would explain making no statement.

While you are probably correct; to completely ignore responding to subscriber concerns is definitely the wrong approach. Many subscribers, like me, will believe that SE does not care. Not much will shake confidence in a business more then apathy on the part of management.

I fully agree. The cost of going back on their word is nothing in comparison with appearing to ignore the problem.
I just suspect that a lot of the details are muddled and warped in the process of running a company as large as they are. Being too cautious brings problems all its own.

The only real direct benefit I can see from this is from the meager amount of subscriptions from the botworkers.

yesterday had the same bot friend request me right after I had denied them the first time I really hope they can fix this come heavensward I really don't like having to be busy all the time -.-

rmt is getting soo annoying lately. Just got back to the game this week cause ive been away for 2 months, afk for a couple of hours and now I got 9 friend requests from bots.
The annoying part is that they are deleted but the friend requests are still there annoying me.
and I can't just click "no" and then they are gone. I need to click "no" then find them in my 100 ppl friend list right click each one of them and remove them.

If a bot is removed from the game why do I still have to have those annoying friend requests glaring at me

For a few days already I'm not even halfway through the first loading screen when I log in and I already hear a friend request. This is really really REALLY shameless.

SE, what is being done internally to combat this issue besides banning accounts? Any of these suggestions in the works?

Got spammed with about 30 requests today, back-to-back, many by the same people... not just friend requests but floods of RMT /tells & /shouts also.

Which we all know is completely ineffective because by now there should be 5591 new accounts doing just what they were doing before.

You know, I think this really says something. If they ban thousands of accounts every month and the RMT advertisement is STILL this bad then it means that this approach is not enough. Something else must be done. I'm gonna leave a quote here.

Now if these people are RMT buying new games this is how they are profiting form this and they will never try to fix it, I suspect gil sellers are trial accounts, the accounts they farm with likely never spam with. Trial accounts should not be able to send friend requests, you have a friend trying the game, you send them a friend request. Trial accounts should not be able to search for players, this is how they are finding us to send the tells and requests. Trial accounts should not be able to trade or use market board. Trial accounts should only be able to send tells to friends. Gil selling would be crushed instantly. Boom, done finished.
