Well... now advertisers are standing on busy places in cities (like aetherites and GC headquarters) and using /say to spam

Frankly, if they've all switched to doing that and only that, I'd take that over the /tells, or the dreaded friend request mess I haven't personally experienced yet...
"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer

Same I started almost a month ago and notice all this /tell spam/say chat spam from these bots too. It's really annoying blacklisting one, only to have another one /tell or say chat another spam...and those darned requests. I don't know how in the world they get my character name, when I don't even see those spammers...but somehow they see me.
I have a better idea about the /tell spam...what about a /tell filter that blacklists these gil sell /tell(s) as a whole instead of blocking all /tell(s).

They probably think I'm stupid and will fall for their wiles...which I don't and I usually automatically go up to the whisperers name and blacklist them. I did accidentally add one of those 'sellgil' people a bit back (then when I realized what it was I blacklisted that person too)...I hope that doesn't give me a problem.
The only "problem" that could give you is gilspam in your mail box. Don't worry about SE - they don't manage to ban all the botters and spammers, even if they wanted to, they wouldn't have the time to give any trouble to players who accept friend requests from bots --- not like that's an offense in any way, shape or form, mind you. They probably think I'm stupid and will fall for their wiles...which I don't and I usually automatically go up to the whisperers name and blacklist them. Then a day later they return and continue to spam /tell, /say and friend requests to people. (most likely the same person.)[If there are people who actually fell for it...they should expect their account to be taken over.]The only "problem" that could give you is gilspam in your mail box. I don't trust when they say 'hardwork' or 'handwork'...or whatever other term they use to lure people into falling for it...I know they bot for the gil.
Getting lots of spam on Balmung tonight...wonder if we aren't even safe anymore, or if it's just a temporary RMT tide?

Howdy neighbour! Remember me? xD Just moved to Balmung early yesterday morning (It's 1AM on Sunday for me) and I've yet to see one ad myself, but maybe I haven't been on at the right times... O.o
