Formal Letter to SE about RMT situation.

I'm on my last 2 weeks of sub time myself. I'm planning on going on break until after Heavensward, seeing how the game is by then, then deciding whether or not to come back.

I am not spammed to hell and back like some people are by RMTs, but I do not condone the apathy being shown by SE on this matter as well as many other problems. The only way I will be back is if some of the problems, particularly RMTs are addressed, or if I get the urge to play enough that it overpowers my better judgement.

Money speaks louder than words to corporations after all.

What are you spending the gil on? The only necessary thing I can think of is teleporting, which the challenge log and duty roulette easily cover any reasonable amount of teleports.

Even teleport money is rarely necessary. I have my free teleport location set to Limsa, my Return point set to Gridania, and the Gold Saucer offers free travel from either of those to Ul'dah. When I want to go someplace, I'll nearly always port for free to the nearest of the three main cities and then travel on foot (well, my chocobo's or unicorn's feet at any rate) from there. Paid teleports are only for when you're in a real hurry.

My house is the only major gil expenditure I've had directly from the game. Everything else I've spent gil on was either fluff or stuff I could have made myself but was just feeling too lazy to do so.

No, they have a character join your FC, and then deposit the money to the FC chest. That way, it can be claimed that they were asked to pay an entrance fee via an outside the game communication method.

its despicable to think of, but remember, these are professional criminals we are talking about. Some of them are bonafide terrorists. If there is some loophole that can be used to keep them in business, they will use them.

PS. being the internet I anticipate people's vastly different opinions hence the last part of my comment, I still think gil should increase to combat buyers/sellers

Lol I like how they promise you won't get spammed from them after buying. That means they know that it is fiercely annoying to get spammed; It's almost like saying.

"Hey my friend! Getting spammed is not fun to existence, BUY our gil and we will add you to the do not contact list. BUY NAU GET LESS SPAM!"

Yea no worries about getting spammed we'll eventually just hack your account and get it back.

It's a slap in the face to SE as the gil sellers are directly refuting the "efforts" of Square Enix to stop them. Complete with a picture of a smiling LaLa gilbot waving "screw you" SE....

Right after "Pay to win", "Overrun with bots and spam" is pretty much at the top of the list of things that will damage a game's and company's reputation. Ignoring this issue is neither smart nor fair towards the playerbase, in my opinion.

Just checked the thread again. I have to say, the information about the ad and the lack of response on the letter from the producer is just... baffling and depressing to me. Words can't even express the disappointment I feel.

Players need someplace to express to SE just how unhappy they are with this situation. A thread with a bunch of pages and replies is more easily quantifiable and trackable than a bunch of small threads about it. What is just amazing to me is that I know what you say is true though. The weird part about that is, when FFXIV 1.0 bombed, SE came out and admitted/apologized for their failure there. FFXIV: A Realm Reborn would not even exist if they hadn't put themselves in a bad light back then and accepted responsibility...Back then I had mad respect for them as I'd never heard of a company doing such a thing. With this situation...not only are they showing they do not care about the customers, which is depressing; they also show a lack of care for their own profits if RMT are involved. It's like they are strongly opposed to going full throttle to really fight the plague that is RMT on this game. Absolutely incredible.

The more SE ignores this, the worse it continues to make them look. The more they ignore this, the angrier people get. This is not something that will just be forgotten as long as we are spammed like crazy in game all the time. Only way it gets talked about less is if existing players start UNSUBBING because they are fed up. That will be even worse for SE. Ignoring this issue makes them look way worse than assuring the players they're going to step up their game(followed through by actions, of course.)

I wonder if SE gave China their own servers and restricted them to there if it would help...
