Formal Letter to SE about RMT situation.

Naunet, what big gil sinks are there?! There is nothing in this game that you frequently have to spend inordinate amounts of Gil on. All MMOs have RMT and none of those MMOs have been able to get rid of them completely. To do so would require changes to the core game that would only hurt legitimate players. It should be easy to see, but this game has so many RMT spammers because of how popular the game is, not because SE invites them in, contrary to popular and silly belief.

The big breaker for me and I am sure i've said in this thread once as well as others. Its that we are given such inadequate tools to really assist in helping remove RMTs. It boils down to a simple right click > Report advertising. If they can simplify it, they will see a bigger influx of reports and against the same people. As it stands I have seen so many people say they refuse to even report anymore because it takes to much time. I shouldn't have to fill out a large form just to say "Hes selling gil" and I am getting several every hour. When I know I will have to sit there for a moment and fill the form out, its just not worth the hassle and many people agree, so till were given better tools we are just ignoring the problem by either going /busy, moving whispers to a different tab, or turning them off all together.

What's really sad is the willful ignorance of some people about this topic. Ignorance from people who aren't forced to experience RMT spam.

I got into a debate a few days ago in an LS I was in. A couple of people in it absolutely refused to believe that RMT is an issue, because they say they haven't seen it on Balmung. I told them it's still an issue even if it's not on Balmung, because what happens on other servers still affects the game overall. They said the lockout is not why RMT aren't on Balmung (they'd say anything to avoid admitting the truth).

I offered to give the people proof of RMT being a major problem (with plans on using this thread as a piece of proof), they plugged their ears, told me they didn't want to see proof, and got verbally abusive and personally insulting towards me in a childish manner. Fanaticism at its finest. Needless to say, I am no longer in that LS!

It almost makes me want Balmung to get some spammers, to wake people up

I'm talking about how many of the extremely desired game features - such as housing, costuming, minions, etc - have huge price tags attached to them. It's hard to look at a house priced at 24 million gil and think, "Yeah, that's reasonable."

And the level of botting and RMT in this game is so far beyond that of any other MMO. It's ridiculous. There's actually a pretty simple solution to it - the PLEX/Chronoscroll/REX/CREDD system - but I bet SE would claim "data limitations" or somesuch.

Why do we have RMT? Because lazy people.

Things cost millions of millions of gil, people don't want to farm, turn to high end crafters or slave their lives away playing the market for ridiculous amounts of money that ends up being traded to other players rather than removed from the economy and thus further boosting inflation.

Crafters charge what they do because people can afford it.

Why do things cost this much? Well, that's a deep rooted problem with the system and the whole thing needs overturned if they want to fix it. If you want rid of RMT entirely nothing can be actually traded.

After reporting 10 (yes, ten) characters yesterday afternoon alone (basically from noon til about...7:30 or so in evening)... Today I log in, the system's welcome messages stamped at 6:43, and I receive an RMT tell at 6:44. That's literally ONE MINUTE of being online. And now four minutes after leaving dungeon, there's another one.

SE doesn't delete characters. If you see [Deleted], it means the RMT deleted their own characters. If I had a gil for every time I have to repeat this, I'd buy out all housing plots.

I'm getting more than ever. And it's been like how many months now since a certain S L E A Z Y company set up permenantly shop in Gridania where they stand right by the aethryte and advertise in Say made. Pretty much every teleport into Gridania is immediately followed by a message in Say mode from that company.
