It matters because JP servers overall have far less RMT than other servers, and you will have an inherently lower RMT population on your server because it's legacy and character creation is often locked. These two things are why you don't see much RMT.

People have posted pictures of their chat logs with proof of how bad RMT was. There's nothing "imaginary" about it.

Yeah, same thing. Things were a lot quieter but the in game tell / say / whatever started picking up again. But what I haven't had to deal with? No friend requests from these accounts since trial accounts were blocked from being able to send friend requests. That much is nice.

I've had the opposite - Plenty of friend requests >_< Probably more than actual tells, as of the last two days.
It was so nice, all through early access... and then it started picking up.... T^T
And the blatant bot in Gridania, sitting at the Aetheryte spltting out RMT advertisements every few minutes. New players are going to see that, so easily... >_> Some may not know any better. At least the RMT bots I remember sitting Ul Dah's Aetheryte were just tell bots -.-

I have seen them in Limsa Aetheryte too after they /say there nonsense I always target them and slap them.

I'm not sure what the best option for solving the /say spam is. Like what immediately comes to mind is to just have the Aetheryte mute players who repeat 50% of the characters in a message and flag them for banning.

Dammit I really hoped they would do something when HW came out.. It was so quiet and nice but nope.. I have to go back busy mode cause I still get those damn friend request.. C'mon SE!

Just make sending friend requests and sending tells a lvl 5 quest. You really don't need either of those things before lvl 5.

That's.......actually not a bad idea. Might be a slight annoyance for new people joining cus of friends but I assume they would find a way to meet up fairly quickly with outside means.
